Devastating new statistics have outlined the severity of gun violence here in the U.S.
Here's the full story...
It's 2021, and we are living in a society where we are afraid to send our children to school in the fear of them being shot.
It seems barbaric when written down in black and white, doesn't it?
But, sadly, this is the reality for far too many Americans.
It's no secret that gun control laws have been slack for far too long, meaning that we have endured a disgracefully high number of mass shootings.
We even have a "mass shooting tracker."
When a country needs a website to keep track of its nearly-daily mass shootings, you know things need to change.
For years now, there have been repeated calls for stricter gun laws...
But this year, following a sickening spike in mass shootings across the country, the pressure on our government to take action has doubled down.
The recent atrocities in Atlanta and Colorado have shaken people to their core...
So now, more than ever before, people are desperate to see change.
If more guns and fewer gun laws made us safer, America would be the safest nation in the world. Instead, we have a 25 times higher gun homicide rate than any other peer nation.

Letting gun lobbyists write our gun laws is a failed experiment. ACT: https://t.co/naVvJsIjvK pic.twitter.com/TQtS9JFWiQ
America's gun laws are insane. To anyone who's ever lived anywhere else, it's the most depressingly obvious thing about this country.

I’m all for the 2nd amendment but for the love of God, America needs STRICTER gun laws. How many thoughts and prayers are we going to tell with NO CHANGES

Biden wants to tighten gun laws. According to FBI estimates, there are over 26,000 across America. I frequently ask politicians what additional laws they think would help but they always default to “common sense gun laws” which they never define. They’re not honest people.

when I was younger, I used to dream about moving to America and making beautiful big films. now there's no way you could pay me enough to even travel there. two mass shootings just this past week only prove that until they establish proper gun laws, the situation won't change.

My prayers go out to the families and friends of the victims of the Colorado shooting. America has suffered enough of these horrors; it’s time to pass stricter gun laws and ensure that preventable tragedies don’t happen.

WHAT WE NEED IN AMERICA IS STRICTER GUN LAWS

With no mass shootings in 2020 due to being “locked down” gun laws have been brushed under the rug. TAKE AWAY THEIR GUNS AND IF THEY CANT PASS A MENTAL HEALTH EVALUATION THEN THEY CAN JUST SAY THAT 😌
Boulder is one of the safest cities in America, which shows how unsafe America is because of our crazy gun laws.

But now, as the country continues to come to terms with the devastating Atlanta and Colorado shootings...
New statistics have shown that, sadly, these two events were not unique.
It has been found that, in the eighty-three days of 2021, there have been 104 mass shootings.
That's nearly 1.3 shootings every day.
This devastating statistic comes courtesy of the Gun Violence Archive...
Which defines a mass shooting as "four or more people shot and/or killed in a single incident, at the same general time/location not including the shooter."
The 104 incidents have happened across a variety of States...
Including Colorado, Georgia, California, Nevada, New York, Arizona, New Mexico, Florida, and Texas.
And as for the number of mass shooting deaths this year?
Well, the number currently stands at approximately 9,647, with more than 7,000 injuries.
More specifically...
As of yesterday, there have been over 1,000 American children & teenagers killed (299) or injured (712) by gunfire in 2021.

Sixty-five children up to the age of eleven have been killed, with 126 injured; 239 teens between the ages of twelve and seventeen have died, with 588 injured; and fifteen police officers have also been killed, with seventy-one injured.
On Tuesday, March 23rd, President Biden spoke of taking action to prevent further mass violence in the wake of the deaths in Boulder.
As per Reuters, he said:
"I don't need to wait another minute - let alone an hour - to take common-sense steps that will save the lives in the future, and I urge my colleagues in the House and Senate to act."
