AOC Blasts Jeff Bezos for Thanking Employees for Space Trip | 22 Words

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has slammed Jeff Bezos after he thanked Amazon employees and customers for paying the bill for his trip to space.

It comes as Jeff Bezos made his first flight to space in his rocket ship, New Shepard, earlier this week.

Following his flight, Bezos used his post-flight press conference to thank "every Amazon employee and every Amazon customer, because you guys paid for all this."

"So seriously, for every Amazon customer out there, and every Amazon employee, thank you from the bottom of my heart, very much. It's very appreciated," Bezos said.

But his thanks have been criticized by many, including New York Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.

TMZ spoke with AOC at Capitol Hill where they asked her thoughts on Bezos giving thanks to workers and customers for paying for the flight, to which she responded: "Of course he means it from the bottom of his heart because if he didn't drive down Amazon wages... if he didn't bust the union... if he didn't have drivers frankly having conditions where they feel they have to pee in bottles.

"It's the exploitation of workers that financed his little jaunts into space, well not even space, the edge of space. And for what? We did this sixty years ago when NASA and with the public. So all of this for a billionaire to have a joyride into space, I think people would rather have healthcare."

AOC also took to Twitter to slam Bezos for his comment, writing: "Yes, Amazon workers did pay for this."

"With lower wages, union-busting, a frenzied and inhumane workplace, and delivery drivers not having health insurance during a pandemic. And Amazon customers are paying for it with Amazon abusing their market power to hurt small business."

Among those joining AOC to criticize Bezos was Bernie Sanders who took to Twitter, writing: "Am I supposed to be impressed that a billionaire went to space while he's paid zero in federal income taxes some years and the workers at his company struggle to afford their medical bills, rent, and food for their kids? Nope. It's time to invest in working people here on Earth."

What do you think about Bezos' thanks to Amazon workers? Is it contradictory and offensive? Or do you think it's genuine?
