In September last year, the world was left in shock and mourning when the nineteen-year-old So Awkward actor, Archie Lyndhurst, died suddenly and unexpectedly.

And now, months on from the tragedy, his cause of death has been confirmed.

Here's the full story...

On September 22nd, 2020, Archie Lyndhurst sadly lost his life.

He was just one month shy of his twentieth birthday.

As soon as the news broke, tributes from shocked fans flooded in for the star...

Most of you will recognize Archie as Ollie Coulton in the CBBC comedy series, So Awkward.

He appeared in the sitcom, which followed the lives of a group of friends in high school, from its first series in 2015.

Archie's other roles included recurring appearances as a younger incarnation of comedian, Jack Whitehall...

In the BBC comedy, Bad Education, in which he was seen as a younger version of Whitehall's character, Alfie Wickers.

As you can see, Archie's career was truly starting to gain momentum...

But, in September, disaster struck.

His mom, Lucy Lyndhurst, broke the heartbreaking news.

In the weeks following her son's death, she wrote on Instagram:

"It is with the heaviest heart that I write this post. 9 weeks ago our dearest boy Archie was taken from us way too early."

"Archie was and remains our absolute world."

"The pain of our loss is beyond anything we have ever felt before, and wouldn't wish upon anyone... He was the most beautiful extraordinary human being we have ever known. To have him as our son has been nothing but an utter joy and honor."

Throughout the last month, Lucy has provided brief updates on how she and Archie's dad, Nick, have been coping with their loss.

She wrote:

"Nick and I try each day to make Archie proud, but it's baby steps, beyond hard and a struggle at times. The world is a very different place without him... We miss him every day and always will. There aren't enough words to describe him, he was a one off, and beyond unique."

But this week, Lucy's latest tribute revealed his official cause of death.

In an Instagram post, Lucy informed her followers that her son had passed away as a result of a brain hemorrhage caused by a rare form of cancer.

She wrote this:

"4 days before Christmas Nick and I sat in Harley Street with the results of Archie's second post mortem... A very detailed document, which we had been warned by the coroner would be a harrowing read, and best explained by a medical practitioner... He died from an Intracerebral Haemorrhage caused by Acute Lymphoblastic Lymphoma/Leukaemia. This is not Leukaemia as we know it, the word Acute in medical terms means rapid."

His mom went on to explain how Archie had shown "no signs of illness."

"Archie had numerous bleeds on the brain and the Dr. went to great lengths to reassure us that he wouldn't have been in any pain as it happened in his sleep."

Archie leaves behind his girlfriend, Nethra Tilakumara, who he had met on the set of So Awkward.

Nethra has paid several tributes to her late boyfriend, writing on Instagram:

"There was once a boy named Archie Lyndhurst and he made me the happiest girl in the whole wide world... Boyfriend doesn't do it justice. Archie, you are my Person and Best friend all in one. To spend the rest of my life laughing and going on adventures with you, was just it for me... You have my heart forever. Thank you for loving me. Thank you for making me the luckiest girl in the world."

Rest in peace, Archie Lyndhurst.
