Bartender Explains 'Angel Shot' and Says It Could Save Life | 22 Words

A bartender has gone viral after he shared a video explaining what an angel shot is, and how it could save someone's life.

The bartender, known as Benji Spears, took to TikTok to explain that there is a code word that you can use to alert bartenders if you're in trouble or feeling unsafe.

The code word, which is becoming increasingly well-known by bar staff, will hint that you need help and feel unsafe without informing those around you.

In the video, which has been viewed more than 8 million times, Benji reenacts a situation in which he spots a woman on a date who looks uncomfortable while he's working behind the bar.

He tells his colleague and says that he suspects the couple is on a first date and the woman isn't comfortable.

He decides to go over to the woman and her date to check everything is okay for them and offer them some glasses of water, when the woman orders an angel shot with lime.

Benji then stays with the woman and makes conversation while his colleague fetches some 'lime'.

After the reenactment ends, Benji explains what an angel shot is and how they are "becoming more common and more known throughout all bars."

"Ok so an angel shot is key, it can save you or your best friend's life and it's something we should all know about," he said.

Benji explains that an angel shot can be ordered in 3 different ways, all of which have a different signal for help.

The first way to order an angel shot is with lime, which means they need the police to be called.

"So there are three ways you can order the angel shot, you can do the angel shot with lime. Ok so angel shot with lime when you order it, it means you need the police so the bartender will notify a manager and we'll get the police involved for you," Benji explains.

"Second you can order an angel shot neat, that means you need someone to walk you to your car, a bartender or security, someone needs to walk you to your car because you don't feel safe."

Or thirdly, people can order an angel shot on the rocks which informs the bartender that you need them to call you a taxi or an Uber home.

As the video ends, Benji stresses the importance of the angel shot as he adds: "I think this is a great learning lesson. Everyone should know about the angel shot. It's just great way to make sure we all feel safe."
