โ€‹But the lack of professional teams available, the stark contrast in pay compared to men's teams, and the lack of fans have a detrimental effect on women wanting to progress to a professional level.

If we look at the development of the Women's National Basketball Association...

It's clear that the struggle for gender equality is still highly prevalent.

The WNBA started almost fifty-one years after the men's league, and women in the WNBA are still paid a fraction of what their male counterparts receive.

The highest any WNBA can hope to earn is $110,000 whereas the starting salary for an NBA player is around $520,000.

Which just proves the inequality.

Cambage recently hit out at Connecticut Sun head coach Curt Miller with a racial jab...

After he made an inappropriate comment about her weight during an argument on Sunday.

But people aren't exactly happy with the way she responded to his comment...

Facebook

Cambage, who ranks among the WNBA's most well-known stars, posted a video of herself on social media...

In which she claimed Miller told an official to call a foul against her after saying, "C'mon, she's 300 pounds."

Miller has since apologized to Cambage...

But was suspended and fined $10,000 for the outburst.

The 6-foot-8 player recorded her weight in a recent video showing her to be 235 pounds...

She also said, she's "very proud of being a big b****."

"I will never let a man disrespect me, ever, ever, ever, especially a little white one," Cambage said, adding, "Don't ever try to disrespect me or another woman in the league."

Cambage went on to say that Miller's comments were more than just your average trash talk...

"But for a coach for another team to be yelling, like, protected abuse," she said, "because we can't do nothing back. It's just crazy to me."

Miller issued an apology on Monday...

"I made an inappropriate and offensive comment in reference to Liz Cambage's height and weight," he said. "I regret what I said in the heat of the moment and want to sincerely apologize to Liz and the entire Aces organization. I understand the gravity of my words and have learned from this."
