Now, Britney Spears has been dominating headlines over the past year...

As the subject of her controversial conservatorship remains a hot topic.

Since first emerging into the spotlight in 1998, Britney Spears quickly became one of the most famous popstars of her decade.

With hits such as "Oops, I did it again," "Slave 4 U," and "Britney," the Mississippi-born singer consistently topped the charts and was even hailed as the "Princess of Pop."

But, early on, Britney's life started to take a turn for the worst.

The star's mental health began to dramatically deteriorate, and the endless attention and pressure from the public and the press alike started to take its toll.

And in 2007, Britney finally snapped.

The singer suffered a highly-public breakdown in the full glare of the world's spotlight.

Her breakdown was triggered by a number of different factors...

She had spent years battling mental health problems and after her split from husband Kevin Federline, the father of her 2 sons, she headed to rehab in Antigua.

Her stay didn't last, however, as she checked out just twenty-four hours later.

And the shocking images of Britney, then aged twenty-five, emerging from the salon with a freshly-shaven head and attacking a paparazzi's car with an umbrella became one of the most famous snaps of that decade.

A few months following this, she was hospitalized and in 2008, she was seen being carried out of her house after reportedly overdosing on prescription amphetamines and locking herself in the bathroom with her youngest son, Jayden.

It was a very long road to recovery for the pop star...

But she was gradually able to rebuild her relationship with her sons after regaining some of her custody rights and get healthy, before eventually starting to focus on her music comeback. And, despite a few health issues along the way, Britney has become an icon in her own right.

She has gone on to win a number of awards...

And has since continued making huge strides forward, winning back custody of her children, making more successful music, landing a lucrative residency in Las Vegas, and having a number of healthy relationships.

She is even in a happy, long-term relationship with Sam Asghari.

However, there has been one sinister consequence of her breakdown that continued to remain for a long time.

And that's the questionable role her dad has in her life.

Jamie Spears controlled every aspect of his daughter's life.

A Los Angeles court named Jamie as the permanent conservator of his daughter's affairs in 2008 and he was named as the permanent co-conservator of her estate, along with an attorney, Andrew Wallet.

Britney's dad dictates her every move...

Something many found to be incredibly problematic, not to mention detrimental to her already fragile mental health.

Concern about the star's wellbeing has been steadily growing in the last year...

And earlier this year many fans were left worried by her Instagram activity, which included a number of bizarre and cryptic videos.

Her activity was strange, to say the least...

So the hashtag and movement #FreeBritney was catapulted back into the spotlight.

Over the last couple of months, people have been using the hashtag to show their support and solidarity with Britney...

And some have even been taking to the streets of Hollywood to march in protest of her situation.

But Britney recently decided that enough was enough...

And she sought to regain control of her own life.

It was reported late in 2020 that she no longer wanted her dad to be in control of her conservatorship.

The singer's lawyer filed paperwork explaining that she is "strongly opposed" to her father having control of her estate and finances, and instead wished for her temporary conservator, Jodi Montgomery, to take on the role permanently, TMZ reported.

But sadly, things didn't go Britney's way.

The court rejected Britney's lawsuit against her father allowing him to remain in control.

But that didn't stop Britney from giving up...

Over recent months, Britney and her new lawyer, Mathew Rosengart, have been fighting to have her father removed from her conservatorship as she continued to speak out and criticise her fathers role in her life.

During one court hearing she even revealed that her conservators refused to let her have her IUD contraceptive device removed so she can have another child.

"I have an IUD in my body right now that won't let me have a baby," she said. "And my conservators won't let me go to the doctor to take it out. I want to be able to get married and have a baby. I was told with the conservatorship I was not able to get married and have a baby."

It's been a painful situation to watch unfold, but thankfully...

We recently received the news everyone had been waiting for.

In a major victory, a judge suspended Britney Spears' father from the conservatorship that controlled her life for thirteen years.

At a court hearing, Judge Brenda Penny ordered that Jamie Spears be suspended as conservator with immediate effect.

A hearing is now scheduled for November 12th to discuss the complete termination of the conservatorship.

Britney may finally be able to moved forward with her life...

And it seems that her conservatorship isn't the only thing Britney has to celebrate as she recently got engaged to Sam Asghari...

And she celebrated her son's birthdays too!

Just last week, Britney took to Instagram to share a message to her sons, Sean and Jayden for their birthdays on her Instagram Story.

As per Cosmopolitan, Britney wrote: "My boys' birthdays were last week and unfortunately they are growing up and want to do their own things. I have to ask their permission to post them because they are extremely independent little men.

"It makes me crazy because they are so tall and geez they are still growing. They went to a dance last week and I cried for two days. My babies in a suit!!! It's crazy!!! And girls get ready cause my boys are so handsome!!!"

Don't believe her about how grown up they are? Well, now there's a picture to prove it...

And it's safe to say, people are stunned by it...

Jayden James Federline and Sean Preston Federline made a very rare appearance on social media this week after they posed for a picture with their dad, Kevin Federline.

The picture shows the pair, who usually choose to stay away from the public eye, looking incredibly grown up.

The picture, posted to Eddie Morales Instagram account, shows the boys looking practically unrecognizable from the little kids we remember.

Even Morales seemed surprised by how grown-up they look, as he wrote: "Talk bout seeing my nephews when they were pods smaller than my hands now look at #life how beautiful gods work is."

What do you think?
