The former model has proven to have been rather controversial in the past.

Some of her eye-opening tweets have landed her in some serious hot water on several occasions...

And Chrissy has been slammed many times in the past for her "tone-deaf" tweets.

Especially during difficult times like a global pandemic.

In the middle of last year's lockdown, Chrissy took to Twitter to explain how her mom treats her $200 Apple AirPods like they're disposable.

Her supposed joke really didn't go down well with her fans; many of whom were struggling financially thanks to the pandemic.

And in the last decade, Chrissy has also been called out on numerous occasions for making fun of and being cruel about other famous figures...

Such as suggesting Lady Gaga isn't a woman, shaming Mariah Carey when she was pregnant, and ridiculing transgender contestants on America's Next Top Model... just to name a few.

She has also been accused of being a bully on numerous occasions...

And some of her past tweets certainly back up these accusations.

Before these accusations came to the surface, Chrissy was aslo known for being a social media queen.

But despite being well-loved across social media, she receives a lot of hate from trolls.

And a few months ago, things became too much...

As Chrissy finally quit Twitter.

Now, of course, Chrissy is part of one of the internet's favorite families.

She's married to John Legend and shares 2 children with him - Luna, and Miles.

And in the last decade, Chrissy has gained a huge following from fellow parents worldwide...

And she is very much loved for always keeping things real when it comes to raising 2 young kids.

She's clearly such an amazing mom...

Chrissy and John opened up about a tragic loss in their family.

Chrissy took to social media to announce they had lost their third unborn child...

Who they had already decided to name Jack.

In the emotional post that contained photos of the moment they said goodbye to baby Jack, the heartbroken mom apologized to her son...

"To our Jack - I’m so sorry that the first few moments of your life were met with so many complications, that we couldn’t give you the home you needed to survive.  We will always love you. Thank you to everyone who has been sending us positive energy, thoughts, and prayers.  We feel all of your love and truly appreciate you."

And, just a few weeks after the tragic loss...

Chrissy returned to social media to share an essay she wrote for Medium about her harrowing experience.

In the deeply personal piece simply titled "Hi," the star started off by explaining that she didn't know when she would be ready to address her son's death.

"I had no idea when I would be ready to write this. Part of me thought it would be early on, when I was still really feeling the pain of what happened. I thought I would sit in the corner of my bedroom with the lights dimmed, just rolling off my thoughts. I’d have a glass of red wine, cozy up with a blanket, and finally get the chance to address 'what happened'."

She took some time to thank fans for their support...

"I didn’t really know how I would start this, no matter the room or state I was in, but it feels right to begin with a thank you. For weeks, our floors have been covered in flowers of kindness. "Notes have flooded in and have each been read with our own teary eyes. Social media messages from strangers have consumed my days, most starting with, 'you probably won’t read this, but…'. I can assure you, I did."

Chrissy then moved onto talking about the day she lost Jack.

"One of the standout moments from that morning (or evening? I have no idea) was me going through the halls of labor and delivery, and John saying “What, is there a f**king party going on here??" Here we were, just wheeled down to a new floor, me covered in a thin blanket to hide, knowing I was about to fully deliver what was supposed to be the 5th member of our beautiful family, a son, only to say goodbye moments later. "People cheered and laughed right outside our door, understandably for a new life born and celebrated. You kind of wonder how anyone is thinking about anyone but you."

Chrissy then described the heartwrenching moment she was told it was time to say goodbye.

"After a couple nights at the hospital, my doctor told me exactly what I knew was coming — it was time to say goodbye.

"I cried a little at first, then went into full-blown convulsions of snot and tears, my breath not able to catch up with my own incredibly deep sadness. Even as I write this now, I can feel the pain all over again. Oxygen was placed over my nose and mouth, and that was the first picture you saw. Utter and complete sadness."

"I’m not sure I’ll ever forget the experience."

"I had always laughed about how much I loved epidurals…not so much this one. I laid there for hours, waiting to be told it was time to push. I obviously never had to dilate much, he was still a tiny little guy. "I had been laying on my side, switching sides every hour or so, whenever the nurse told me to. I remember laying on my right side, looking opposite of John, when I was told to make my switch. I opened my legs and started to turn to face John and just like that, he was on his way out. The doctors yelled for a bit and…I don’t know what to say, even now. He was out."

It's been months since the family's tragic loss...

And slowly but surely, they have been learning to live with their grief and build their lives back together.

It's clear to see that Chrissy is starting to get back to her old, bubbly self...

She's been keeping herself very busy... including accompanying John as he sang at President Biden's inauguration ceremony in Washington D.C.

Not to mention her on-going social media presence which has truly cemented her as an internet favorite.

She's not one for sugar coating things...

And so, keeps her social media very real.

And of course, she's not afraid to hit back at trolls.

But in March, it seemed like enough was enough...

Twitter

As the model quit Twitter and it's safe to say, it got a lot of people talking.

Chrissy's departure came ten years after she first joined the site.

And after recent backlash for collaborating with Kris Jenner on a plant-based cleaning product line, Safely.

In a lengthy farewell message, she wrote: "Hey. For over 10 years, you guys have been my world. I honestly owe so much to this world we have created here. I truly consider so many of you my actual friends."

"But it's time for me to say goodbye. This no longer serves me as positively as it serves me negatively, and I think that's the right time to call something."

"My life goal is to make people happy. The pain I feel when I don't is too much for me. I've always been portrayed as the strong clap back girl but I'm just not," she continued.

"My desire to be liked and fear of p*ssing people off has made me somebody you didn't sign up for, and a different human than I started out here as! Live well, tweeters. Please know all I ever cared about was you!!!'"

"I encourage you to know and never forget that your words matter. No matter what you see, what that person portrays, or your intention. For years I have taken so many small, 2-follower count punches that at this point, I am honestly deeply bruised."

"I have made my mistakes, throughout years and in front of hundreds of thousands, and been held accountable for them. I've learned an incredible amount here," she admitted.

"God I have said f***ed up s*** and killed myself over it as much as you killed me. But one thing I haven't learned is how to block out the negativity."

"I'm just a sensitive s***, okay!? I don't wanna be this way! I just am! But I love you guys and I cherish our time together, I truly do. I also hate you."

She signed off her final tweets with a love heart symbol...

And her account was deactivated shortly after. But that wasn't the end of her social media reign.

Just months following her departure from the social media platform...

She has shared some devastating news on Instagram.

This came after Chrissy opened up about her declining mental health after her return to social media...

On Wednesday, she admitted she is struggling after taking a step back from public life.

After going on vacation with John and her children she posted to Instagram that she felt like she was living in "cancel club."

She said it "feels so weird to pretend like nothing happened" while she feels like "utter s**t in real life" and misses her fans.

"Iiiii don't really know what to say here...just feels so weird to pretend nothing happened in this online world but feel like utter s**t in real life," she wrote.

"Going outside sucks and doesn't feel right, being at home alone with my mind makes my depressed head race."

Teigen admitted her way wasn't helping much, saying: "But I do know that however, I'm handling this now isn't the right answer."

"I feel lost and need to find my place again, I need to snap out of this, I desperately wanna communicate with you guys instead of pretending everything is okay," she explained, adding: "I'm not used to any other way!!"

She later said she's "learned a whollllle lot" from the experience.

"Only a few understand it and it's impossible to know till you're in it," she went on. "And it's hard to talk about it in that sense because obviously, you sound whiney when you've clearly done something wrong.

"It just sucks. There is no winning. But there never is here anyhow."

Pivoting to a more positive note, Chrissy told her fans: "All I know is I love you guys, I miss you guys, and I just needed an honest moment with you because I'm just...tired of being sick with myself all day."

Wondering if sharing was wise, she went on: "I don't even know if it's good to say any of this because it's gonna get brutally picked apart but I dunno. I can't do this silent s**t anymore!"

Then, she reached out to anyone else who's been cancelled, writing: "If you or someone you know has also been cancelled please let me know if there is a cancel club reunion because I could use some time off my couch!" before signing off with love and thanks.

Just months following her recent message on social media, Chrissy has gone through yet another tragic loss...

On Thursday, she shared the news that her French Bulldog Pippa had died.

She shared a photo of herself with her beloved pet and wrote: "Our beautiful little Pippa just died in my arms, not long ago."

"She was ten, I remember picking her up in Gainesville and documenting our trip home."

"She was a sassy broad - loved her pearl necklace and never took s*** from ANY new dog we brought in."

"Our road dog with Sade, a tour dog for years. we loved her so much. We love you, sweet girl. I know you're giving Puddy hell up there. Thank you for giving us your whole life."

Puddy is the name of the first dog that she and husband John Legend got together...

He died in March 2018.

Legend also paid tribute to Pippa, sharing a photo showing the dog wearing her pearls and sitting in his lap.

"This pic is her living her best life on the road with her dad, wearing pearls," he posted on his Instagram.

"She gave us so much joy for 10 years. We love you, Pippa!"

The celebrity couple is still doggie parents to Penny, a 3-legged French Bulldog they adopted in June 2014...

And an English Bulldog named Pablo who joined the family in October 2017.
