Cleveland Indians Announce New Name Amid Uproar | 22 Words

The Cleveland Indians have changed their team name after receiving intense backlash over its "racist" origins.

On Friday, the baseball team, announced that they were officially changing their name to the Cleveland Guardians, but it has not yet been made clear when this name will become permanently used. The breaking news was announced via a 2-minute and eleven-second video narrated by Tom Hanks which you can watch below.

The announcement comes after the original team name came under fire for being offensive to Native Americans, and shortly after, last December, the team announced that it would be changing to a new nickname which has now been confirmed as the "Guardians."
