Dad Who Didn't Want a Dog Now Tucks His Favorite Pup In | 22 Words

Of all the wholesome memes on the internet, is there anything better than the "dad who didn't want a dog?" We all know the story - a family begs for a dog while the dad claims he has no interest in a pet. The dad thinks he'll be the one ending up scooping poop and doing early morning dog walks while the rest of the family sits back, scot-free.

After months (and sometimes years) of pestering, the dad eventually caves. And as soon as the dog enters the dad's life, everything changes. The dad who didn't want a dog is suddenly the most devoted, loving owner in the entire family. And some of the interactions between the dog and the dad who didn't want them are just too cute.

But one particular dad's story has taken the internet by storm this week. 7 years ago, Rachael Rodrigues was gifted her pup, Oliver. But at the time, she was rather confused. "Both my parents were very anti-dog, as we've always had cats and they were hesitant with the additional work (training, walking, grooming, etc.) that comes with a dog," she told The Dodo.

But it turns out, her concerns were for nothing. "Dad was smitten from the start," she said, claiming her father started cuddling her puppy and even carrying around the house so they didn't have to be apart. "In the first week that we got him, we thought Oliver had a stomachache and wouldn't sleep through the night, so Dad slept on the floor with him under a blanket and rubbed his stomach the whole night," Rachael revealed.

But then things got even cuter. Rachael claims Oliver is no longer just like a dog, but more like another child to her father. Oliver obviously loves all the attention and has bonded with Rachel's dad, too. And there's one routine the pair share that's truly special.

Naptime, of course! Rachael shared the ritual Oliver and her dad share and it's melted our hearts. Oliver first walks over to his dog bed and sprawls out. And then, for ultimate cuteness, he's tucked in by Rachael's dad underneath his favorite Winni the Pooh blanket. The dad even offers Oliver some forehead kisses to make him feel super safe and help him drift off.

"The video is pretty much what Dad and Oliver's relationship is like — Dad treats him like an absolute baby (even though he won't admit it) and Oliver laps it all up," Rachael explained. We think this may be the ultimate "dad who didn't want a dog."

Our hearts can barely take it! We only wish we had someone who tucked us in like this at night.
