Actor Daniel Mickelson, who starred in the 2019 TV series Mani and indie horror movie The Killer Clown, died on Sunday aged just twenty-three. And now, his girlfriend Maddie Haley has shared a heartbreaking note she received from the late actor before his tragic death.
Daniel's sister broke the news to fans on Instagram, prompting a symphony of support and condolences from celebrity friends and family. A cause of death is yet to be confirmed.
Joining the tributes made to the young actor, including Daniel's girlfriend Maddie Haley who took to Instagram to share an adorable hand-written letter from her late partner.
"You mean more to me than you will ever know," Daniel told the student nurse. "Whenever I'm down or in a mood I can honestly just think of you and I'm immediately brought back to peace," the actor penned.
"Every day without you gets harder + harder and my heart grows fonder every day. I pray that you stay the course and stay focused because your potential is out of this world," he told Maddie.
"There is so much to look forward to but don't ever forget to enjoy the 'now' because you won't get to do it again," Daniel went on, with the word "now" underlined.
"I am truly head over heels for you. To the sweetest most beautiful soul I've ever come across in my life. I love you so much and will wait as long as it takes," he finished the sweet note.
Maddie shared she had framed the note, which had been scrawled on the back of a script. She also shared some more intimate pictures from the couple's relationship before he passed, including selfies and a polaroid of them cuddling up in bed together.
The Monday following his death, Maddie revealed she had been planning "to spend the rest of her life" with Daniel and his passing had meant her dream had been "stripped away."
"I wish I could tell you how much I love you and I wish I got the chance to say goodbye. I'm not sure how I'm going to get through this but I'm going to be strong for you because I know it's what you would have wanted," she wrote.
Maddie ended her tribute: "Everything I do now is for you. Now I have a guardian angel by my side for the rest of my life. I am going to make you so proud. I love you forever babe."
Daniel's sister Meredith commented on the post: "He loved you more than anything and I love you more than anything."
As well as his blossoming film and TV career, the Georgia-born star had recently announced the launch of his clothing company Kids Back Home.
Speaking about the tragedy in a heartbreaking post, the model and influencer shared: "Yesterday I lost my brother, best friend & the other half of my heart. There wasn't a person I loved more on this earth. There are no words that can do him justice that I could write. to know him was to love him. he was the happiest brightest smiley most sunshine human to exist and I'm so happy God chose me to be his sister for his whole amazing life."
