The Disney classic Hercules has recently sparked a heated debate online after a fan pointed out a pretty disturbing detail we've never seen before...

Now, as we've got older, some of us have realized the context behind certain scenes in our favorite kids movies...

That had previously gone way over our heads as kids.

And this one is bound to shock you...

As we all know, Hercules is a Disney classic.

First released back in 1997, the animated movie retells the historic tale of the Roman hero and god, Hercules.

The ancient tale of Hercules was spun into a feature-length animated movie...

And showed the Roman god, Hercules, rescuing the love of his life while defeating the evil lord of the underworld, Hades.

Ancient Greek mythology was expertly brought to life...

And today, it remains one of the firm favorites of the Disney Renaissance period.

However, one fan recently noticed something pretty disturbing during Megara's solo song I Won't Say (I Love Him).

And people have a lot to say...

TikTok user @elldramaticaromantic noticed the statues surrounding Meg actually show women being assaulted...

"Woah, hold on! So I never noticed this before, but in Hercules, in the part where she says I won't say I'm in love, there's a part where she says 'I thought my heart had learned its lesson.'"

"The statues she passes by - these aren't love scenes, these are assault scenes from Greek mythology like...no wonder she's trying to be cautious."

"I never noticed this."

In modern society, r*pe is a despicable crime. However, in Greek mythology, it was a common trope.

Which was also hinted at in earlier parts of the film, with Phil and Meg's encounter with the Centaur.

Greek mythology often depicted women as vulnerable, only able to escape through death or metamorphosis...

Which was the case for Meg in the movie.
