A doctor did the sweetest thing for one of his patients recently by writing her a prescription saying she can finally hug her granddaughter after months of separation...
And it's touched the hearts of so many people!
Because we all know how hard it's been for millions of families in the last year.
Keep scrolling to see the touching video for yourself...
COVID-19 completely stole away 2020 from us...
And we've sadly seen more than 2 million people worldwide lose their lives to this deadly virus.
Families have been kept apart for months on end...
Which has been particularly traumatic for the more vulnerable and elderly.
But it's true when they say...
All bad things will eventually come to an end... right?
In November 2020, the first COVID-19 vaccine was approved...
And, after months of world-wide lockdowns and quarantines, this news was music to everyone's ears.
The vaccine's developers - Pfizer and BioNTech - described the milestone as a "great day for science and humanity."
And, in December, the companies announced that they would be supplying the U.S with one-hundred million additional doses.
Spirits are high...
Because at least ninety-eight million people have been vaccinated here in the States, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
This is an incredible milestone...
And finally, more and more families are being reunited after months of separation.
Which is what brings us to today's emotional story.
Evelyn Shaw spoke to CNN recently about how it had been a year since she was last able to share an embrace with her granddaughter, Ateret Frank.
"It's been a very dark year, listening to the news, reading the paper," she said, explaining how difficult this last year has been.
Evelyn was finally able to get her dose of the vaccine recently...
Meaning she was allowed to reunite with her daughter and granddaughter... but her doctor decided to tell her in the sweetest way possible.
People have been left touched by the doctor's kindness...
Crying here. Haven’t hugged my kids since Christmas 2019. Older daughter got her first shot on Sunday. Younger daughter, hubs and I are fully vaccinated. Looking forward to group hugs very soon! So happy for your mom. ❤️❤️— Janet Herrman (@HerrmanJanet) March 9, 2021
And, of course, by Evelyn's emotional reaction too.
Being a Grammy who is still waiting to hug the grandkids, this brought tears to my eyes. I'm close. 2nd dose Friday. ♥— nancy rice (@grammy2) March 9, 2021
I think this is the sweetest thing I have seen in a long time. ❤️❤️— Silent Noise (@S1l3nt_N01s3) March 10, 2021

Made my mom cry 😔
We can't wait for this moment! pic.twitter.com/AeJSUCCuCq
Love this so much. My mom’s Dr recently wrote her a prescription to hang out with her girlfriend for the first time in a year. She has been depressed and stressed about my dad’s health and needs a friend to talk to. Over the phone is not the same. So happy for you & your mom ❤️— Christa Jones (@supertrickylulu) March 9, 2021
Bravo to the Dr! BRAVA to your Mom for discussing being down & stressed. Hope your Mom has had a nice visit with her friend....also hope your Dad will be ok. Must be hard for you...been there...know how stressed you must be. Take care of you & keep well...💙💙💙💙— 92exchangestreet (@92exchangestre1) March 10, 2021
This is too much. 💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗 I'm just going to cry all day about this. What a joy. My parents will come visit in late April (post-vax) and I-CANNOT-WAIT to hug them. I bet you just want to sit next to your mom like glue for the next 48 hours.— Dr.RP (@DrTiffanibelle) March 9, 2021
This pandemic has deprived so many people of even simple human touches. I cried too when I got another person to touch me after the first lockdown 😢— Wesley Hung, PhD (@wesley3to) March 10, 2021
Happy tears for all of you happening here. I’m so thankful that your Mother has stayed healthy, send her all the best vibes moving forward and ALL THE HUGS ✌️💕— Mary Beth Skelly (@MaryBethSkelly1) March 9, 2021
Awww! That's one of the best prescriptions ever written! Congratulations! 😊— ⚖Hellcat🦇Lissa⚖ (@HellcatLissa) March 10, 2021
Evelyn's daughter, Jessica, filmed the special moment.
"We were standing in my apartment, just hugging and hugging and crying and crying for the first time in a year, which was an out-of-body experience," Evelyn said of the moment.
"It was blissful, it was wonderful and it was something I am going to remember for the rest of my life."
But it was all thanks to her doctor that this special moment happened.
First hug she’s had in a year. Thank you to all the scientists and doctors who made this happen! pic.twitter.com/puvJlJpDoy— Jessica Shaw (@JessicaShaw) March 9, 2021
Evelyn's doctor wrote her a very special prescription that not only made her day but changed her entire outlook.
Evelyn thanked her doctor for writing the prescription...
And said it helped her with transitioning from the fear of COVID to "a better place of hope and possibilities and more hugs and kisses."
The prescription simply read:

"You are allowed to hug your granddaughter."
We're so happy for Evelyn and her family to finally be reunited!
