'Disgruntled Neighbor' Puts Strobe Lights Where Epileptic Kids Catch School Bus | 22 Words

One parent has turned to the internet for advice after their neighbor did something unthinkable...

Reddit is one of the weirdest places online...

People can go there to talk about literally anything.

And Reddit user AwareTable used that to their advantage after posting their situation to the subreddit r/legaladvice.

The subreddit is the best place to ask legal questions...

Allowing you to get advice from specialized lawyers for free. And thankfully, there is always someone willing to help...

And AwareTable needed some serious help...

As they explained it, a "disgruntled neighbor" who lives opposite the school bus stop has installed strobe lights outside their home...

And as it so happens, AwareTable's 3 "young, elementary-aged children...all have a very serious case of epilepsy."

Their post has left people outraged...

As we know, strobe lights can trigger epileptic seizures, especially in children.

And what makes things worse is that there are multiple children with epilepsy who take that bus.

They've all been grouping together to catch the same bus.

Unfortunately, this new neighbor has "been an absolute hell to everyone."

"From the second day on, he has harassed our kids telling them to get off his property, even though they were technically on a public road," AwareTable wrote.

‚Äč"Through the grapevine, he somehow learned that a majority of the kids were epileptic, and has installed strobe lights in his front lawn. These are VERY powerful, VERY fast lights that you can not avoid walking by."

AwareTable said that after confronting the neighbor, they confirmed they knew the kids had epilepsy before installing the strobe lights.

"He hates kids, and has made it very apparent even calling the lights 'brat repellent.'"

AwareTable also went beyond confronting the neighbor...

"We've contacted the police, and they won't even come out to talk to the guy," they wrote.

They also appealed to the school to pick the kids up at a different location, but it didn't work.

The bus "just couldn't drive into our neighborhood and easily back out. They have to be picked up on the street."

They've resorted to driving the kids to school themselves, but still need to find a solution to their problem...

Luckily the subreddit r/legaladvice, came up with some ideas.

User RexWrecks7616 suggested going straight to a local prosecutor...

"That's the person who decides how to interpret the law and presents charges to the court...In my mind, it's pretty clear Child Abuse," they wrote.

They even had a law for AwareTable to cite...

‚ÄčThere's an Oklahoma law against "the willful or malicious harm or threatened harm or failure to protect from harm or threatened harm to the health, safety, or welfare of a child under eighteen (18) years of age by another, or the act of willfully or maliciously injuring, torturing or maiming a child under eighteen (18) years of age by another."

Let's hope this will help their situation!
