Earlier this week, father of Blake Lively and actor Ernie Lively tragically died at the age of seventy-four.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the actor passed away surrounded by his wife and children in Los Angeles.
His death was caused by cardiac complications, his family has since announced.
5 of Ernie's children shared his passion for acting, including Blake Lively, who is well known for her role in Gossip Girl.
Ernie's acting career spanned over fifty years, where he was part of movies such as Passenger 57, The Dukes of Hazzard, and Turner & Hooch.
But he is undoubtedly best known for playing Blake's father in the Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants films.
He also played roles in the hit movies; Shock, Air America, Showdown in Little Tokyo, and Mulholland Falls.
While his TV career included shows such as; The X-Files, Seinfeld, Murder, She Wrote, and The West Wing.
He was born Ernest Brown Jr. in Baltimore and started out as an English professor. He even served as a lieutenant during the Vietnam war before turning to acting.
In addition to Blake Lively, Ernie had 4 other children.
His sons Jason and Eric, and daughters Robyn and Lori have all built acting careers too. Jason starred in National Lampoon's European Vacation, while Eric had a role in American Pie and The Butterfly Effect 2. Robyn starred in the movie Teen Witch and TV series Twin Peaks, while Lori featured in Star Trek: Deep Space Nine.
Ernie even made medical history back in 2013, when he became the first patient to undergo a heart procedure that involves injecting stem cells back into the heart, to heal damaged tissue.
Ernie is survived by his wife Elaine, his sister Judith, his 5 children, and 9 grandchildren.
