Since it was announced that the highly-anticipated Friends reunion will be airing later this month, fans have been beyond excited to see the famous gang back return to their screens...
But many have been expressing their disappointment over the news of James Corden hosting the reunion.
Here's the full story...
Now, Friends is arguably one of the most successful sitcoms of all time.
via: GettyWe were introduced to the Friends gang back in 1994, when Ross (David Schwimmer), Rachel (Jennifer Aniston), Chandler (Matthew Perry), Monica, (Courteney Cox), Phoebe (Lisa Kudrow), and Joey (Matt LeBlanc) first burst onto our screens.
Of course, it was an instant hit...
via: GettyCreated by David Crane and Marta Kauffman, the comedy follows the friends, who live in the same New York apartment block, as they together navigate through the turbulent years of their late twenties.
And it didn't take long for fans to become incredibly attached to these characters. The show truly made us feel like a member of the Friends gang, even when we were conflicted over whether Ross and Rachel really were on a break or not... FYI they totally were on a break.
The final episode aired in September 2004...
It was an emotional rollercoaster, to say the least.Monica and Chandler were starting a family, Phoebe was newly married, Rachel had a new job in Paris... As with a lot of friendships, the gang had grown apart and were embarking upon their separate journeys.
Oh, and Rachel got off the plane!Fans rejoiced as Ross and Rachel finally put their differences aside and got back together.
But, fifteen years on from Rachel getting off the plane...
We never found out what happened to the gang.
Did Rachel and Ross stay together? Would Monica and Chandler ever get divorced? Did Joey ever make it as a big actor?
Over the years, there have been a few low-key reunions and a lot of false hope...
Apart from the occasional reunion on talk shows, fans have had their fair share of disappointments when it comes to waiting for a Friends reunion.
Even the cast has confirmed in the past that a reunion is incredibly unlikely.interview with the Mail Online. He added, "People want to know what happened to them. But it was about a finite period in a person’s life after college, before you settle down and start a family."
So, yeah... Things haven't been looking too great on the reunion front.
Well, the news we were all waiting for arrived in February last year...
All of the cast posted the same throwback picture on Instagram confirming the news of an official reunion. Many fans hoped that the reunion would be scripted but sadly, the reunion will simply be a sit-down with the entire cast and crew to just catch up and reminisce on the good times. It still sounds brilliant, though!
The reunion was originally scheduled to air in May 2020 on HBO Max...
Along with the channel releasing all ten seasons of the sitcom for viewers to watch on-demand.
But bad news wasn't far around the corner...
Due to the global pandemic, the Friends reunion was called off "indefinitely," just a week before filming was set to take place.
But it's true when they say, good things come to those who wait!
Because it was announced earlier this month that the much-anticipated new episode of the popular comedy will be aired on May 27th.
And on Wednesday, a trailer for the one-off unscripted special was shared on social media by the gang...
Showing the stars walking around the original set at Warner Bros Studios in California, taking part in that trivia game, and doing a table read of well-known scenes, including Phoebe reenacting her spotting Monica and Chandler kissing from the fifth series.
The trailer also showed a few celebrity guests taking part in the fun, including the likes of Cara Delevinge and Justin Bieber.
There's absolutely no doubt how excited fans are since the trailer dropped...
But there's one thing they aren't so impressed with.
And that's the person who will be hosting the reunion.

Don’t get me wrong I’ve been wanting a Friends reunion since 2004 but if someone told me James Corden would be in it I’d have told them not to bother— Jonathan (@j_o_n_a_than) May 13, 2021
So emotional at the Friends trailer? And not even sorry about it? The only thing I'm *raging* about is that James Corden seems to be hosting it— Niamh Devereux (@_niamhdev_) May 19, 2021

There needs to be a federal investigation as to why James Corden has been allowed to participate in the friends reunion— Alex 🦋 (@ScottishMando) May 13, 2021
Yep, James Corden will be hosting the reunion...
And although The Late Late Show host is very popular at the moment here in the United States, it seems as people just feel he isn't the right fit for the job.
What do you think about Corden hosting the reunion?
Do you think he's right for the job? Or, in similarity to Twitter, do you think he'll completely ruin it?
Make sure to stay posted for updates on the 'Friends' reunion.
