But there's one recreated graduation photo, in particular, that has been doing the rounds online this week. With graduation photo season in full swing, it seems the ones that mirror their respective parents' ones from the past are the cutest amongst them.
But when Tori Roach shared a picture of her graduation in 2018, the internet could not get enough. She shared a throwback shot of her as a baby in her dad's arms as he graduated, plus him lifting her up again to celebrate her own big day.
The first photo was taken in 2000 when Dennis Roach was graduating from Huntsville High School in Texas. When Tori's graduation date rolled around, she came across the old picture, and an aunt suggested the pair try to recreate it. They were even graduating from the same high school! "It was really cool because it was the same place that he graduated from For me to be in the same place that he was eighteen years before that, it was really cool," Tori told PEOPLE. "It brought me and my dad closer in a way because we could share that moment, and I feel that not many other people get to experience that."
The tweet amassed more than 60,000 retweets and over 150,000 likes, with many enquiring as to the status of Tori's dad. "For everyone asking, yes this is my dad, he's thirty-seven, and no he isn't single... I have another sibling on the way," she laughed in a follow-up tweet.
But Tori claims she never expected this sort of reaction. "I'm from a small town and nothing like that ever happens over here. I didn't expect it to blow up like that! Once it started happening, I was like, 'Oh my gosh!' I called my family and I was like, 'Everyone's sharing the pictures!'"
And what makes this story even sweeter is that each year, as graduation season rolls around, it goes viral once more. "I woke up and I had a ton of notifications... People had started sharing and liking and commenting all over again," Tori explained.
"My dad was really proud. We're from a small town, so nothing like this really ever happens. And he was like, 'That's so cool!'"
Tori is now studying at Sam Houston State University and plans to recreate the same photo once more when she graduates in 2022. "When I graduate from Sam, it'll be in the same stadium that I graduated in from high school and the same stadium that he graduated in from high school!"
