The husband of one of the Atlanta spa shooting victims has spoken out about how he was handcuffed by police for 4 hours after the attack...
Now, on the evening of March 16th, twenty-one-year-old Robert Aaron Long went to 3 local spas and shot dead 8 innocent people in Cherokee and Fulcon County, Atlanta.
As per the New York Times, 4 people died in the first shooting at Young's Asian Massage, which was reported at around 5 pm. Just a short while later, Long targeted the Gold Spa where he shot dead 3 women.
Shots were then fired nearby at the Aromatherapy Spa, where the body of another woman was found.
8 people in total tragically died, 6 of whom were Asian.
Long was arrested a few hours after the shootings following a manhunt...

And although he is now in police custody, people are feeling angrier than ever.
Many have been taking to social media to share their shock and heartbreak over the attack...
I live in Atlanta and am heartbroken about the 8 murders here tonight targeting Asian spas. Disgusting.

Alongside their anger over how yet another shooting has been allowed to take place here in America.
It's clear that many strongly believe this was a racially motivated attack...
What happened in Atlanta is a hate crime. Anything else is spin. Standing with the Asian American community against hate today and forever.

And people have been rallying together both on the streets and online in protest of this kind of terrorism and, of course, to demand justice for America's Asian communities and the victims who lost their lives in this ruthless attack.
But what exactly has been happening to the person responsible?

Well, Long is being held without bond in Cherokee County, where he faces 8 counts of murder and a charge of aggravated assault, according to the county sheriff's office.
During interviews, Long told police that he had a sex addiction and his attacks came from somewhat of a sexual nature...
And although he's taken full responsibility for the shootings, Long has been adamant that they weren't racially motivated.
The victims are slowly being identified...
And according to Sky News, thirty-three-year-old Delaina Ashley Yaun, fifty-four-year-old Paul Andre Michels, forty-nine-year-old Xiaojie Yan, and forty-four-year-old Daoyou Feng were the first to be identified.
The Fulton County medical examiner's office then updated the list of shooting victims with the names of 4 women that had not been previously released.
Seventy-four-year-old Soon Chung Park, fifty-one-year-old Hyun Jung Grant, sixty-nine-year-old Suncha Kim, and sixty-three-year-old Yong Yue.
Utterly heartbreaking.
All of these victims have left behind family and loved ones...
Rest In Peace,

- Delaina Ashley Yuan, 33, of Acworth
- Paul Andre Michels, 54, Atlanta
- Xiaojie Yan, 49, Kennesaw
- Daoyou Feng, 44
4 of the Atlanta shooting victims in Cherokee County were confirmed to be Korean, Korean-American. We mourn with the diaspora. #StopAsianHate
And alongside them, the entire world is mourning their untimely and tragic deaths.
It's also caused a lot of anger...
There’s something so horrific about the media making sure that they point out Robert Long shot up massage parlors without specifying that he primarily targeted Asian women. It’s racism and misogyny and needs to be addressed as such.

Because why did these 8 people have to die at the hands of one deranged individual?
But the story that's struck a nerve with a lot of people is the one of Mario Gonzalez, the husband of Delaina Ashley Yaun.
Delania was tragically killed at the first crime scene near Woodstock, about thirty miles north of Atlanta while Mario was nearby the spa.
But when the police arrived at the scene, they instantly targeted Mario...
And he was held in a patrol car outside the spa as he wife was dying inside.
The revelation, in an interview with Mundo Hispanico, a Spanish-language news website, follows other criticism of Cherokee County officials investigating the March 16th attack.
Mario and Delania had gotten a babysitter for their infant daughter and went to Youngs Asian Massage to relax. They were in separate rooms inside when the gunman opened fire.
Mario heard the gunshots and worried about his wife but was too afraid to open the door, he explained.
But when the police arrived, Mario was immediately put in handcuffs by officers.
"They had me in the patrol car the whole time they were investigating who was responsible, who exactly did this. I don't know whether it's because of the law or because I'm Mexican. The simple truth is that they treated me badly," he said.
"Only when they finally confirmed I was her husband, did they tell me that she was dead."
"I wanted to know earlier," Mario explained.
Left alone to raise their daughter and his wife's teenage son, he then said the shooter took "the most important thing I have in my life."
"He deserves to die, just like the others did," Mario said of the shooter.
Utterly devastating.
People have been left stunned over Mario's harrowing experience...
I saw the interview with Mr Gonzalez and it just killed me. I could hear the pain in his voice and see the hurt in his eyes. I hope and pray that he and his family can someday pick up the pieces and live on. Rest In Peace, Delania.

And of course, people think the treatment is nothing short of appalling.
Our deepest thoughts and condolences go out to both Mario and all of the families who have lost their loved ones due to this terrible attack.
Rest in Peace.
