Social media star Júlia Hennessy Cayuela has died following a motorbike crash with her husband Daniel Cayuela on July 15th in São José dos Pinhais, Brazil. She was just twenty-two years old.
Her final Instagram post to her 332,000 followers is haunting: "Life is short, let's be crazy — me, you, god and the road. Your dreams are mine."
The beauty influencer was on a motorbike road trip with her husband at the time, traveling through the mountains of southern Brazil.
"We were at our house, me and my wife, Julia's mother when the hospital called with the news. We got a flight and, at midnight, we were in Curitiba. She died around 1:00 am," Jerônimo Onofre, Julia's stepfather, told G1.
She was airlifted to a hospital in the nearby city of Parana in critical condition but died shortly after arriving of a sudden cardiac arrest, according to Brazilian outlet O Tempo.
Her husband Daniel, an entrepreneur with more than 110,000 Instagram followers of his own — was also seriously injured, underwent shoulder surgery, and remains in intensive care.
"He didn't know," Onofre said. "We decided to tell him together, as a family. Daniel is in a state of shock, crying a lot, not believing what happened, they were very united and in love. We are desolate, in shock, a very difficult time."
The Cayuela's had been married for 4 years and often documented their motorcycle adventures via their respective social media accounts. Since she posted the caption the same day as the accident, some followers considered her last post a premonition of sorts.
The Federal Highway Police of Parana and Ecovia told local outlets they suspect a truck was crossing the BR-277 road in São José dos Pinhais when the cycling couple T-boned into the side of it.
Júlia was buried on July 17th in the city of Belo Horizonte in the couple's native state of Minas Gerais. Her somber funeral procession was attended by hundreds of fans and loved ones.
The influencer was also a biomedicine student who also loved modeling and beauty, she often posted about her life and the adventurous trips she had with her husband. She was also open about how she coped with being a public member on social media while balancing her education.
Rest in Peace, Júlia.
