Jennifer Aniston has revealed that she had to cut off some of her friends who didn't want to get vaccinated or reveal their vaccination status.
The fifty-two-year-old opened up about her thoughts on the COVID-19 vaccine during an interview with InStyle, where she criticized those who have their views influenced by "fear and propaganda."
Aniston revealed to InStyle that at the start of the pandemic she had to stop watching so much news as "we all went through news fatigue, panic fatigue, during the pandemic because we were hoping one day we would wake up and hear something hopeful, and all we got was more insanity."
And now that there is hope with the help from a vaccine, Aniston said it's a "real shame" that people still "don't listen to the facts."
"There's still a large group of people who are anti-vaxxers or just don't listen to the facts," she said. "It's a real shame."
The actress continued to explain that she has "lost a few people" who have "refused or did not disclose" about the vaccine, something she believes is their "moral and professional obligation."
"I've just lost a few people in my weekly routine who have refused or did not disclose [whether or not they had been vaccinated], and it was unfortunate," she said. "I feel it's your moral and professional obligation to inform, since we're not all podded up and being tested every single day. It's tricky because everyone is entitled to their own opinion — but a lot of opinions don't feel based in anything except fear or propaganda."
Aniston has advocated COVID-19 precautions since the pandemic began last year.
In June 2020, she encouraged her Instagram followers to wear a mask in order to "keep each other safe."
"I understand masks are inconvenient and uncomfortable. But don't you feel that it's worse that businesses are shutting down... jobs are being lost... health care workers are hitting absolute exhaustion. And so many lives have been taken by this virus because we aren't doing enough," she wrote at the time.
"People seem worried about their "rights being taken away" by being asked to wear a mask. This simple and effective recommendation is being politicized at the expense of peoples' lives. And it really shouldn't be a debate."
The following month she encouraged followers, once again, as she revealed that her friend Kevin had been hospitalized with COVID.
