John Travolta and his 2 remaining children, Ella and Benjamin, recognized the passing of Kelly, John's wife, in private by not paying tribute to social media with what's been a heartbreaking year for them.
But, on July 14th, just 2 days after the anniversary, John brought some happy news to his followers. He took to Instagram to share his Emmy nomination and to congratulate his fellow Die Hard co-stars, Nathalie Emmanuel and Kevin Hart.
John has been nominated for Outstanding Actor in a Short Form of Comedy or Drama Series, and the news was received very well.
"Congratulations. I know your guardian angels are shining down," said one person. "I'm sure Kelly and Jett are smiling down," referring to the son both John and Kelly lost when he was just sixteen.
"You rock John," another wrote.
Kelly tragically passed away last year after a private 2 year battle with breast cancer and so the family remembered her in private also on 12th July.
John, sixty-seven, has found the last twelve months incredibly painful since the passing of his loving wife, but he's making his children proud as a single parent.
You might need tissues here because we did...
Last month, twenty-one-year-old Ella shared a heart-melting message to her dad in honor of Father's Day: "Daddy, you make parenting look so easy, though it not always is. You make every day better than the one before it. You bring joy to us when we are down. You are our best friend and we love you to the moon and back around. She continued: "I hope to be even half as good of a parent as you someday. Happy Father's Day to this incredible man and to all of the amazing Dads out there."
Now, just how adorable is that?
John even wrote a little Father's day post, boasting about the privilege he has being a father to his beautiful children:
"Happy Father's Day everyone! It is a privilege to be the father of these two beautiful children - thank you for the honor and my love and respect to all fathers."
Ella also posted a photo paying tribute to her recently departed Mom on Mother's Day: "Mama, thank you for all you have done for us and for this world. I miss you and love you very much, but your smile, warmth, and love are ever-lasting. Wishing all of the moms a happy Mother's Day."
Rest in Peace, Kelly and Jett.
