Keyshawn Johnson Heartbroken After Daughter Dies Aged 25 | 22 Words

Former NFL star, Keyshawn Johnson, has spoken of his heartbreak following the death of his eldest daughter, Maia.

She was just twenty-five-years-old.

​Since he announced the devastating news, words of condolence have been flooding in from friends and fans of the sportsman alike.

Maia was Johnson's first child with Shikiri Hightower, whom he was married to between 1998 - 2002.

Keyshawn, who rose to fame playing for the New York Jets, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the Dallas Cowboys, and the Carolina Panthers, then went on to have a son, Keyshawn Jr., in 1998, and 2 more children with his current wife, Jennifer Conrad.

Not much was known about Maia...

And she never featured on his Instagram account, where he would sometimes share photos with his 2 youngest children.

However, he has been left completely shattered by her death.

The NFL star took to Twitter to speak of his heartbreak.

Announcing her death, he first wrote this:

"It is with incredible sadness that I have to share the news about the passing of my beautiful Daughter Maia. Maia, as my firstborn child, has been the joy of my, and her Mother Shikiri's, life."

His statement continued:

​"She came into our lives just as we were both coming of age as adults and has been a constant beloved presence for both of us. We are heartbroken and devastated by her loss. Shikiri, Maia's siblings, our family, and me appreciate your thoughts and prayers at this difficult time."

"We also all appreciate your support and respect for our privacy as we move forward."

Maia's cause of death is yet to be confirmed.
