Krispy Kreme has been open for eighty-four years this July 16th and to celebrate the occasion, the famous donut chain plans on releasing a special deal for its happy customers. On that day, all Krispy Kreme restaurants will be serving up a $1 Original Glazed dozen when you buy any dozen donuts.

All you have to do is simply buy any dozen donuts, online or in-store, on July 16th. You will then have the chance to spend an additional $1 for an additional dozen Original Glazed doughnuts, which includes a Strawberry Frosted BirthYAY Sprinkle Doughnut thrown in for good measure. If you're ordering online, just enter the code BIRTHYAY. How exciting is that?

"For our 84th birthday, we're giving our amazing fans a special donut and a great deal to celebrate with delicious, melt-in-your-mouth donuts," Dace Skena, CMO at Krispy Kreme, said in a press release.

According to Krispy Kreme, in 1933, the founder bought a doughnut shop in Paducah, Kentucky from a French Chef in New Orleans. "He received the company's assets, goodwill, and the rights to a secret yeast-raised doughnut recipe," Krispy Kreme said. Later, in 1937, the first Krispy Kreme donuts were made and sold in Salem.

And now, Krispy Kreme's now has 250 retail locations in thirty-seven states and Canada as well as 130 shops in the United Kingdom!

So, it's a pretty special Birthday for Krispy Kreme as the entire business started off with just $25 in cash, a few pieces of donut-making equipment, a secret recipe, and their name. Talk about starting from the bottom.
