And, after months of world-wide lockdowns and quarantines, this news was music to everyone's ears.
The vaccine's developers - Pfizer and BioNTech - described the milestone as a "great day for science and humanity."
And, in December, the companies announced that they would be supplying the U.S with one-hundred million additional doses.
This is an incredible sign for the future.
And finally, more and more families are being reunited after months of separation.
It's clear, vaccines are brilliant.
Allowing many of us to gradually get back to a more normal way of life.

Krispy Kreme has stepped in ...
The company has announced any customer with a valid COVID-19 vaccination card will receive a free Original Glazed doughnut.
And not just once - it's valid for every day of 2021.
"We all want to get COVID-19 behind us as fast as possible and we want to support everyone doing their part to make the country safe by getting vaccinated as soon as the vaccine is available to them."
