A tragedy has struck at a Vancouver branch of McDonald's after a customer was killed while going through the drive-thru.
On Wednesday, Vancouver Fire Rescue Services were called to the McDonald's on Main and Terminal streets in Vancouver, Canada.
A customer had been killed in a freak accident at the restaurant.
He was paying at the drive-thru when he dropped his bank card and exited the vehicle.
The vehicle then rolled forward, trapping the man between it and a "structural piece" of the restaurant.
He then became "pinned between the vehicle door and frame."
"Efforts were made by first responders to revive the man, but tragically, he died on the scene," Constable Tania Visintin with the VPD said.
"This is an absolutely heartbreaking scenario. Our deepest condolences go out to the family and friends of this man."
The incident is now being investigated by VPD's Collision Investigation Unit and BC Coroner Services.
"Whenever you get off your car FOR GOD'S SAKE put your breaks on and put it on park!" warned one Facebook commenter.
"Did anyone even try to push the car back to free him before first responders arrived?" another questioned.
Rest in peace. Our thoughts and prayers are with the man's friend's and family during this difficult time.
