Megan Fox has slammed people that have criticized her age gap with her current boyfriend, actor and musician, Machine Gun Kelly AKA Colson Baker.
The thirty-five-year-old model hit out at critics after she noticed a narrative starting in which her boyfriend was constantly referred to as her "younger man."
But according to the hard facts, the pair only have 4 years between them, with Machine Gun Kelly celebrating his thirty-first birthday in April. I would understand the total outrage if there was a ten+ age gap or if there was a massive power difference between them, I would be slightly worried, but it's literally 4 years.
Fox called out the behavior during a recent interview with InStyle, slamming critics as "judgemental."
"There's so much judgment," Fox told journalist, Alyssa Hardy, as they entered the final minutes of the stars' working day. "Where are your kids?" is the question people always ask her every time she's seen on a red carpet.
"'Do you ask their dad when he's out?'" She asks. "No, because you don't expect a dad to be with the kids all the time, but I'm supposed to not be seen and be at home with my kids. They have another parent. I have to leave and sometimes I don't want them photographed and they don't come with me. This whole year I've been very surprised by how archaic some of the mindsets still are in some people."
She continued: "You want to talk about patriarchy? The fact that he's 4 years younger than me, and people want to act like I'm dating a younger man. He's thirty-one, and I'm thirty-five. Granted, he's lived like he's nineteen his whole life, but he isn't nineteen. No one would blink twice if George Clooney was dating someone 4 years younger."
Fox raises a good point there. For decades, men in Hollywood have paraded around with young women half their ages on their arm and no one's batted an eyelid. In recent years, the uncomfortable, almost predatory behavior has been called out due to the #MeTooEra making conversations around the topic more widely discussed but that doesn't mean it's been eradicated.
Every so often we hear stories of women in the industry being manipulated into dating or doing "favors" for men who can "further their careers" or "make them stars."
"4 years? Go f*** yourself," Fox said. "We would have been in high school together. That's so ridiculous that women are treated that way."
The pair first met back in 2020 when they were both working Midnight in the Switchgrass and they instantly had a connection. At the time, Fox had just finished going through a divorce with her then-husband, Brian Austin Green - who, by the way was with her when she was eighteen and he was thirty - no one was outraged about that back then, but let's move on. Anyway, Fox and MGK quickly became linked together after they started spending more and more time with each other outside of their work lives and in June 2020, the musician seemed to confirm their newfound relationship with a tweet of his own lyrics writing: "I'm calling you girlfriend, what the f***.' Life imitated art on that one."
And ever since then, they seem to be going strong. We have no choice but to stan such an iconic couple.
