Mia Khalifa has split up with her husband, Robert Sandberg, after 2 years of marriage. The influencer, sports broadcaster, and former adult movie star got engaged to the Swedish chef in March 2019 before they tied the knot in the kitchen of their first home on June 10th of the same year.
The couple has reportedly split over "unresolvable differences."
Khalifa announced the breakup on social media, saying that they went their separate ways after going through almost a year of therapy but being unable to make their marriage work.
She said: "We can confidently say we gave it out all in making our marriage work but after almost a year of therapy and efforts we are walking away knowing we have a friend in each other, and that we truly tried.
"We will always love and respect each other because we know that not one isolated incident caused our split, but rather, a culmination of unresolvable, fundamental differences that no one can blame the other for.
"We are closing this chapter with no regrets and both starting our own, separately, but connected through incredible family, friends, and our love for our dogs.
"This has been long overdue, but we are glad we took our time and gave it our all, and can walk away saying we tried our absolute hardest."
The twenty-eight-year-old previously married her high school boyfriend in 2011 before separating in 2014 and divorcing in 2016.
It was during this period that she began her short-lived career as an adult movie star, causing controversy as she performed scenes in a hijab which quickly becoming the number 1 rated star on P*rnhub. But she has since revealed that her 3 months in the industry were the worst in her life.
Speaking on Alexandra Cooper's Call Her Daddy podcast back in March, she said: "I started disassociating and just compartmentalizing and pretending like things never happened to the point where I didn't talk about porn for the first like three years after, I just went quiet and never spoke about it.
"Every time I did an interview that was the one thing they were not allowed to ask me about, I refused to acknowledge that I did it and it wasn't until therapy that I realized how detrimental that is."
Speaking about the apartment she was living in at the peak of her viral fame, she said: "It was disgusting, it was so bad, it was cockroach infested, it was the worst time of my entire life.
"I had two million followers on Instagram, everyone thought I was living it up, that was not the case."
Sharing a picture of herself on Instagram, Khalifa also recently announced that she's made it onto the OnlyFans money-making trend: "I have a full-time job... as an accountant," she wrote.
Under the picture of her and her hubby announcing the heart-wrenching split, it appears as though she's taken the option to comment away too.
She also posted a picture, in which she appeared to be crying, on her story saying: "If you've already booked a flight to my wedding, I don't know what to tell you, I hope you bought trip insurance."
We hope you're ok, Mia!
