Actor, Michael Jai White, has revealed the devastating news that his son has passed away from Covid-19. He was thirty-eight years old.
During a guest appearance on Sunday's Vlad TV, the Arrow actor went into detail about how his eldest child was hospitalized a few months ago, contracted the virus, and subsequently passed away.
"He was in the hospital for a while so it wasn't immediate," the star explained. "Ultimately, when he got sick and went to the hospital, COVID was waiting for him. That was the knockout blow."
White also revealed that he had become a dad at aged fifteen, and he and his son had "grew up at the same time."
"Unfortunately, he was still kinda out there in the streets hustling, wasn't doing well, started getting on substances," White added. "He'd come out, go back in, all that type of stuff. He never shook the streets. That was his thing."
Nevertheless, despite White attempting, again and again, to help his son get off the streets, he said, "ultimately, it's up to that person, especially if it's a grown person."
The actor explained that his son had a compromised immune system due to the substance abuse, and was in the hospital for a while before he passed away.
"That was the knockout blow," he added, noting that his oldest son wasn't vaccinated against the virus.
White's eldest son is survived by 6 children.
White also has a daughter named Morgan with Courtney Chatham, who he was married to from 2015 to 2011. He has been married to Gillian Iliana Waters since 2015, with whom he shares three children.
As of writing, there have been over 611,000 Covid related deaths in the US.
