Mrs. World has made headlines this week after she was arrested for rudely snatched the winning crown from Mrs Sri Lanka's head.
Here's the full - and very explosive - story...
On April 4th, the Mrs. Sri Lanka ceremony went ahead in the South Asian country...
And Pushpika De Silva was the woman who won the prestigious title.
Mrs. Sri Lanka is a part of the Mrs. World beauty pageant series for married women...
And the winners of each country's title progress to the overall Mrs. World competition.
The former titleholder of Mrs. Sri Lanka is the one who crowns the new winner...
And in this year's instance, the current Mrs. World, Caroline Jurie, was the one to do the honor.
But it seems as if Mrs. World didn't feel that De Sliva was worthy of the title...
And she made this apparent in the worst possible way... live on television.
People have been left appalled by Jurie's behavior towards the new Mrs. Sri Lanka...
The fact that there is a rule that “Mrs. Sri Lanka” is not allowed to be a divorcee is pretty archaic and disgusting. Shame on them for allowing that rule and shame on the Mrs. SL2019 for humiliating the winner by stealing her crown because she is separated (not divorced).— Sam (@Samanth11440186) April 6, 2021
This is shame. If she can contest why she can't win. That lady who remove the crown from the winner clearly show she hasn't gota heart only beauty.— Sandun Anuruddha (@SandunAnuruddha) April 5, 2021
Absolutely mad and so wrong. Just proves the whole thing is completely rigged. #SriLanka should be #disqualified in participating in #contest world stage.— Myles (@AGMylvaganam) April 5, 2021
Why can’t a divorcee win the the contest ?
Why are we discriminating ?
Unacceptable 👎 if such rules are there, why the hell did they let her participate in the competition in the first place 💔— Gayan Kanishka Kulathunga (@Gayankk91) April 5, 2021
That was disgusting to humiliate her that way! Don't run a beauty contest of you don't know how.— peta (@PetaInfoOverloa) April 7, 2021
She’s Mrs. World too, which is makes it so much worse! She should know better.— Shayla G (@Shaeraebae) April 7, 2021
Dear Men, Hope you understand now the kindness makes the beautiful person. No matter what it looks like.— Afee (@AfeefaAslam) April 5, 2021
Wow... So it's not just based on looks but a woman can't be divorced either. Makes it even shittier. Fuck everything about pageants.— Jena (@troelsytwo) April 6, 2021
Holy hell, people are insane.— Lisa 🔴🔴🔴 (@LisaSt2136) April 6, 2021
But also - are we just going to know how awful it is to even have a rule keeping divorced women from competing? WTF kind of backwards bullshit is that?
This was the meanest thing ever. I’m glad she has since been reinstated as the winner.— Vinita Banthia (@vinitabanthia13) April 6, 2021
Footage obtained by local media shows the moment De Sliva was announced as the winner of Mrs. Sri Lanka 2021...
And how initially, Mrs. World places the crown on her head as the audience applauded, triumphant music blared, and confetti fell.
But it's when Mrs. World gives her speech when things turn ugly.
"I have a small request as for the Mrs. World," she declared, "There is a rule that you all have to be married and not divorced. So I'm taking my first steps and saying that the crown goes to the first runner up."
Jurie then marches over to De Sliva and begins yanking the crown from her head.
While the triumphant music continues to blare, the clearly irritated Mrs. World is seen roughly pulling pins from De Silva's hair while the poor woman tries her best to remain poised.
And to make things even worse, another woman walks over and helps Jurie unfit the crown from De Silva's head.
When the crown is finally freed from De Silva's head, she walks off stage with what grace she could muster...
And Jurie places the crown on the head of the runner up who goes on to shed tears of joy and graciously waves at the crowd, rather than check on the well-being of the actual Mrs. Sri Lanka.
It was all terribly disgraceful and cruel...
But thankfully, once the drama had settled down, organizers of the event confirmed that De Silva was still very much Mrs. Sri Lanka and that she wasn't actually divorced.
She is a single mother who has been valiantly raising her young son alone.
And at a press conference the following day, Mrs. Sri Lanka decided to address the incident.
"There are a lot of single mums like me today who are suffering in Sri Lanka," she said, "This crown is dedicated to those women, those single mums who are suffering to raise their kids alone."
She also revealed that she maintained head injuries from how Mrs. World snatched the crown from her head...
And that she will be taking legal action against the scorned woman.
"Finally, I say a true queen is not a woman who snatches another woman's crown, but a woman who secretly sets another woman's crown!" she said in a Facebook post.
The national director of Mrs. Sri Lanka World, Chandimal Jayasinghe, told the BBC that the crown was returned to De Silva on the Tuesday following the incident.
"We are disappointed," he said, "It was a disgrace how Caroline Jurie behaved on the stage and the Mrs World organization has already begun an investigation on the matter."
But now, another spanner has been thrown in the works...
Because Mrs. World has been arrested this week over her actions.
Senior police official Ajith Rohana told the BBC:
"We have arrested Jurie and (her associate) Chula Manamendra in connection with a charge of assault and causing damage to Nelum Pokuna (theatre)."
Manamendra was the woman in the video helping remove the crown from the humiliated De Silva's head, before throwing a triumphantly raised fist salute to the crowd.
A court hearing for the pair is likely next week; they may be granted bail later on Thursday.

What do you think about the situation? Do you think it was totally out of line for Mrs. World to treat the new Mrs. Sri Lanka in this way?
