Netflix set to make vaccinations a mandatory requirement for key members of the cast and crew throughout the United States.
According to reports, members who are deemed as part of "Zone A" will have to have their COVID vaccinations before being allowed to work for the streaming giant. The move comes as news of the Delta variant spreading quickly makes headlines.
The jab policy will begin at its U.S bases and then be rolled out globally for the company's 144,000 employees.
However, Sean Penn has spoken out about the policy, stating that it should be extended to all employees working on the campus and not just those called "Zone A." He was so serious about it that he vowed to not return to work on the drama Gaslit without everyone working at the company being vaccinated.
Netflix is said to be making the move after the U.S Disease Control and Prevention announced that masks will once again have to be worn indoors even by those who have been fully vaccinated due to another wave of the virus sweeping the country. Health experts have warned that this Delta virus is more contagious and is spreading at a quicker rate to the initial variant.
Other big-name companies are also following suit. Google has said workers must get vaccinated before returning to the office.
Sundar Pichai Google chief executive said in a blog post that "anyone coming to work on our campuses will need to be vaccinated."
He added: "will vary according to local conditions and regulations, and will not apply until vaccines are widely available in your area."
Google will be extending the full reopening of its global campuses from 1 September all the way to 18 October due to a spike in cases caused by the Delta variant. However, if people aren't comfortable with coming into the office, the employees can apply to work from home permanently if they choose, and even transfer offices.
It's a whole new world now, ladies and gentlemen.
