Nicki Minaj Didn't Attend Met Gala Due Vaccine Requirements | 22 Words

Nicki Minaj has revealed that part of the reason she did not attend the 2021 Met Gala was due to vaccine requirements.

As the Met Gala took place at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York last night, there was one very famous face missing from the carpet...

Nicki Minaj.

While fellow celebrities took to the red carpet in extravagant gowns to pose for pictures, Minaj took to Twitter to reveal why she wasn't in attendance.

Responding to a fan who was disappointed that Minaj's last public appearance was over a year ago, the "Super Bass" singer explained that she would not risk her son's health for the event.

"I have an infant with no nannies during COVID. Who mad? Not risking his health to be seen. One yaself," she wrote.

She then went on to respond to another fan where she revealed that she recently contracted coronavirus which is why she wouldn't risk it again.

"I was prepping for VMAs then I shot a video & guess who got COVID? Do u know what it is not to be able to kiss or hold your tiny baby for over a week? A baby who is only used to his mama? 'Get vaccinated' Drake had just told me he got covid w| THE VACCINE tho so chile," she tweeted.

Minaj also revealed another reason she was not in attendance at the Gala as she discussed the topic of vaccines.

"They want you to get vaccinated for the Met. if I get vaccinated it won't for the Met. It'll be once I feel I've done enough research. I'm working on that now. In the meantime my loves, be safe. Wear the mask with 2 strings that grips your head & face. Not that loose one," she tweeted.

Before continuing in another tweet: "My cousin in Trinidad won't get the vaccine cuz his friend got it & became impotent. His testicles became swollen. His friend was weeks away from getting married, now the girl called off the wedding. So just pray on it & make sure you're comfortable with ur decision, not bullied."

Of course, Minaj's decision to do her own research on the vaccine was hit with criticism.

"Your own research? Do you have a team of scientists running clinical trials out of a spare bedroom?" one person tweeted.

While another added: "Yeah…Everyone should absolutely wait until you finish your "research" before they get vaccinated. Oh wait, the vaccine is approved by the FDA, meaning they conducted actual clinical trials and there were minimal to no concerns re: safety or efficacy AND you don't know anything."

However, despite Minaj's claim that she would wait for the vaccine as she does her own research, she later tweeted to a fan that she would recommend they have it if it poses a risk to their job.

This came after a fan explained they had to have the vaccine in order to find work so Minaj responded: "I know babe. A lot of countries won't let ppl work w/o the vaccine. I'd def recommend they get the vaccine. They have to feed their families. I'm sure I'll b vaccinated as well cuz I have to go on tour, etc."

Hopefully, we'll see Queen Nicki next year at the Gala.
