Officer Seen Running With Wounded Child Following Shooting | 22 Words

On Saturday, 3 innocent bystanders were shot in New York City during a street dispute, causing utter havoc in the city...

And now, just a few days on from the terrible ordeal, footage has emerged showing a female NYPD officer running away with a wounded child in her arms.

Which, of course, has touched so many hearts during such a terrifying time.

Now, this terrible incident kicked off in Times Square on Saturday, May 8th.

ABC7 reported a man shooting a gun indiscriminately into a crowd of people at 45th Street and 7th Avenue.

3 innocent bystanders were shot...

Including a 4-year-old girl who was out toy shopping with her parents, a tourist from Rhode Island, and a forty-three-year-old woman.

It is believed the gunman is thirty-one-year-old Farrahkah Muhammad...

And authorities believe he was targeting his brother after a dispute that turned into a shooting.

Chaos immediately unfolded when Muhammad started shooting in the busy tourist area...

And thankfully, NYPD were quick to attend the scene and call for backup and medical help for the victims.

Mayor Bill de Blasio announced on Monday the 3 victims are all out of the hospital and "it looks like they will make a stronger recovery."

"We saw a really painful incident in times square Saturday, horrible and unacceptable," the mayor said.

"I want to thank all the men and women of NYPD, immediately on the scene to protect everyone there and address the situation. Thank God of the 3 people who were hit by the gunfire are all out of the hospital and it looks like they will make a strong recovery."

If it wasn't for the heroic acts of NYPD that day, things could have turned out a lot worse...

Especially for the 4-year-old girl who was shot in the leg.

Footage has emerged of Officer Alyssa Vogul running through the packed streets with the little girl in her arms...

Who has since been identified as Brooklyn-local Skye Martinez.

"She's pretty tough,'' the child's aunt, Danae Romero told The New York Post on Sunday.

"Even when we noticed [she was wounded] when we were at the corner, she wasn't crying."

The footage of Officer Vogul running with Skye cradled in her arms is truly remarkable; one would think it was her very own child.

Thankfully, little Skye was swiftly treated at a nearby hospital and she is expected to make a full and healthy recovery.
