Partner Waxes Daughter's Unibrow to 'Prevent Bullying' | 22 Words

A dad has been left feeling furious after his wife waxed their 5-year-old daughter's unibrow to prevent her from being bullied.

When a mom noticed that her daughter might be teased for her unibrow, she decided to wax it. But, after her husband found out and said it was "horrible" of her to "be subjecting my 5-year-old daughter to beauty standards, she questioned her decision.

The mom took to Reddit to explain the situation and ask people what they thought about her actions.

As per Percolately, in the since-deleted post, she explained: "So my 5-year-old daughter has a pretty thick dark unibrow, that is very noticeable. Because of COVID, her preschool was online, therefore she was never bullied for having it. However, this past summer, her cousins came over to visit and many of them teased her for her unibrow."

The mom then explained the cousins called her "countless names" leaving her daughter thinking that "she is ugly."

"It breaks my heart because nobody (let alone a 5-year-old) should think they are ugly," she explained.

She tried to reassure her daughter that she is beautiful and tells her "not to listen to her cousins," but "my daughter still believes she is ugly."

Her daughter is now approaching the start of kindergarten, so in a desperate attempt to make her daughter feel better and to prevent the bullying from getting worse while she's there, the mom "took it in my hands to wax her unibrow."

"I didn't shape them or anything just waxed the middle off to get rid of her unibrow," she wrote.

Her daughter loved the results of the wax as she kept "looking in the mirror and calling herself so pretty." And, the mom was pretty pleased too as it "warmed my heart to see her so confident in herself, but I made sure to remind her she was beautiful both ways."

But, there's one person who wasn't happy about the removal of her unibrow... and that's her dad.

"When my husband came home my daughter was so excited to show him her eyebrows. In front of her, he called her beautiful but after she left we had a huge fight," the mom explained.

"He said it was horrible of me to be subjecting my 5-year-old daughter to beauty standards. And that at such a young age I'm pushing it on her, instead of telling her she is beautiful the way she is.

"And no 5-year-old should be waxing their eyebrows, and I'm pushing the mentality that she is only beautiful without her unibrow. And that my daughter is too young to know what she wants and she should have been able to make her decision to wax it off when she is old enough."

The mom finished her post by noting that she understood all the points that her husband had made, but she only did it because her daughter told her "she wanted to get rid of her unibrow."

"I didn't want her to grow up with the bullying and teasing and blame me because I could have prevented it," the mom wrote.

What do you think of the mom's decision? Do you think she is subjecting her daughter to beauty standards?
