Two People Charged After Fighting at Gas Station | 22 Words

A man and a woman have been arrested and charged after they were seen fighting at a gas station amid the chaotic panic buying of gasoline that's taking over the East Coast at the moment...

And the shocking brawl has outlined perfectly the chaos that has been caused by this national gas shortage.

Here's the full story...

Now, these fuel shortages come after Colonial Pipeline was hit by a ransomware cyber-attack over the weekend.

The operator, which carries 2.5 million barrels of diesel, petrol, and jet fuel across Eastern America per day, took itself offline on Friday after the attack.

On Monday, the FBI officially confirmed that the cyber-criminal gang, DarkSide, was responsible for compromising Colonial Pipeline's networks.

Though the gang has since insisted they "didn't mean to create problems."

"Our goal is to make money and not creating problems for society," DarkSide wrote on its website.

Shortly following the attack, gas prices across the East Coast soared.

The national price at the pump hit $2.985 on Tuesday, the highest level in nearly six years, according to AAA.

North Carolina Gov. Roy Cooper declared a state of emergency Monday evening...

A move that allowed him to temporarily suspend some fuel regulations in a bid to ensure adequate supply, according to CNN.

Georgia and Virginia quickly followed suit.

Yesterday, President Biden assured the country that things are "under control."

"I think you are going to hear some good news in the next twenty-four hours... I think we're going to be getting that under control."

However, despite the president's push to keep Americans optimistic, as the week has progressed, mayhem has ensued.

Having been left without fuel, East Coast residents have resorted to hoarding, price-gouging, and even fistfights in a desperate attempt to get their hands on the little fuel that remains.

The scenes have been truly apocalyptical...

And, as it always does in these situations, social media has been able to shine a candid and unfiltered light on the chaos.

But perhaps the most shocking moment of it all?

A Twitter user shared footage from a North Carolina gas station where two drivers could be seen spitting at one another before breaking out into a brawl.

The fight was filmed by another motorist stuck further back in the queue as cars patiently waited for their turn to fill up at the pump.

However, one of the drivers wasn't so patient and could be seen attempting to edge into the queue, ultimately cutting the queue.

"Buddy in the Honda trying to cut in like, what the f*** are you doing, bro?" the filmer commentates.

After being unsuccessful in pushing in line, the female driver gets out of her vehicle to give the other motorist a piece of her mind.

Storming up to his driver's side, she screams something at him, before appearing to spit in through his window.

With this, the other driver retaliates, getting out of his car and following the woman back to hers, before spitting right back at her.

Then, the woman suddenly starts attacking him, swinging punches at his head - the man doesn't hit back but does attempt to restrain her.

The whole incident was utterly disgraceful...

And it didn't take long for the police to become involved.

According to NBC News, Knightdale police officers were called to a Marathon gas station in the town on Tuesday afternoon for a report of a crash and a disturbance related to 2 people fighting over spots in the line.

The woman involved was eventually charged with simple assault and the man was charged with assault on a female and damage to personal property, police said.

Both were cited and released with a pending court date

As of yesterday, Colonial Pipeline began to slowly restart the nation's fuel pipeline network.

However, it will take several days for the 8,850 km pipeline to return to normal operations, Colonial said, adding that a return to ample supplies could take as long as 2 weeks.
