Prince Charles has recently broken his silence on the birth of his granddaughter, Lilibet Diana.
The Prince of Wales has spoken out for the first time since his fifth grandchild was born on June 4th.
On Tuesday, Prince Charles made an appearance at the BMW MINI plant in Oxford where he was asked about Lili's arrival during a speech on the impact of technology.
"The development of technology like electric vehicles…is vital for maintaining the health of our world for future generations," he said. "..Something I am only too aware of today, having recently become a grandfather for the 5th time."
He continued, describing the occasion as a "happy" one.
"Such happy news really does remind one of the necessity of continued innovation in this area – especially around sustainable battery technology – in view of the legacy we bequeath to our grandchildren," he added.
The news comes a few days after Prince William and his wife, Kate, posted a tribute to the couple on Twitter.
We are all delighted by the happy news of the arrival of baby Lili.— The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge (@KensingtonRoyal) June 6, 2021
Congratulations to Harry, Meghan and Archie.
The Duke and Duchess congratulated the family, despite the alleged difficulties currently affecting their relationship.
The royal family also dedicated an Instagram post to them too, expressing their joy.
"Congratulations to The Duke and Duchess of Sussex on the birth of Lilibet Diana!
The Queen, The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall and The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are delighted with the news.
"Lilibet is Her Majesty's 11th great-grandchild," the caption read.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle welcomed their second child together last week.
The couple chose the name Lilibet in honor of the affectionate family nickname of her great-grandmother, The Queen, and of course, her middle name, Diana, was given in honor of Harry's late mother, Princess Diana, who tragically passed away in a car accident in 1997.
"On June 4th, we were blessed with the arrival of our daughter, Lili," read a statement on the Archewell website.
"She is more than we could have ever imagined, and we remain grateful for the love and prayers we've felt from across the globe. Thank you for your continued kindness and support during this very special time for our family."
Another statement released by their press secretary revealed further details about the happy occasion.
"It is with great joy that Prince Harry and Meghan, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, welcome their daughter, Lilibet "Lili" Diana Mountbatten-Windsor, to the world.
"Lili was born on Friday, June 4 at 11:40 a.m. in the trusted care of the doctors and staff at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital in Santa Barbara, CA. She weighed 7 lbs 11 oz. Both mother and child are healthy and well, and settling in at home."
Congratulations to the couple!
