But amid the celebratory posts, there were also racist comments relating to the fact Rachel is a Latina acting in a role previously played by a white cartoon character.
On Tuesday, Rachel responded to the opposition of her as Snow White saying "Yes, I am Snow White. No, I am not bleaching my skin for the role. "
The Snow White live-action movie's director echoed the statements made by supportive fans saying that "Rachel's extraordinary vocal abilities are just the beginning of her gifts, her strength, intelligence, and optimism will become an integral part of rediscovering the joy in this classic Disney fairy tale."
The live-action Snow White is set to begin production in 2022.
The news comes as Disney has been reviving a handful of classics for the new, and much younger generation, including The Lion King, Mulan, and The Little Mermaid.
The original Snow White and the Seven Dwarves movie came in 1938, marking it as Disney's first-ever animated productions. The classic fairytale follows the story of a princess named Snow White who is exiled by her stepmother, an evil queen who wants to kill her. She runs away into a forest where she is rescued by seven dwarfs who form a friendship with her.
Are you going to watch it and do you think Rachel is perfect for the role?
