But this week, the violence has escalated to devastating levels.

In the worst bombardment of airstrikes since 2014, Gaza Strip has this week faced an abundance of attacks from Israeli forces.

At least twenty-eight Gaza residents have been killed by the strikes since sundown Monday, according to Palestinian officials and Israeli media, as per The Washington Post.

At least a further three hundred have been wounded.

Among the dead are 9 children, according to Gaza's Ministry of Health.

Palestinian militants retaliated by launching a heavy barrage of missiles on Tuesday, killing at least 2 Israelis in the coastal city of Ashkelon.

And people from all over the world have been watching, both transfixed and horrified, as the violence continues to unfold.

Hundreds of Palestinian residents have been left homeless as a result of the attacks.

Despite specific areas being targeted, residential areas and buildings have taken the brunt of the airstrikes, leaving citizens injured and on the streets with nowhere else to go.

And last night, one of Gaza's largest residential buildings was hit.

As previously mentioned, footage of the Hanadi tower block - which is believed to have been thirteen stories high - collapsing after being hit by an Israeli airstrike has been circulating online.

Al Jazeera first shared a video of the collapse.

Thankfully, the residents of the Hanadi tower were evacuated ahead of the strikes and no casualties have so far been reported.

However, this incident has only added to the increasing damage caused by the conflict.
