It's inevitable that death awaits us all... but when exactly is always the question.

Well, now scientists have an answer...

We all find ourselves asking that universal question...

When will we die?

But the answer is...

It is no secret that some people will go on to live extremely long lives.

These people must have their secrets ...

Because they're certainly doing something right!

Nowadays, people can live well into their 100s...

And many have taken the title over the years of being the oldest person in the world.

But as people get older and older ...

Some people out there have been left with a question.

How far can we go?

Is there an upper limit on how long we can live?

Is living forever truly a possibility?

Well, now science may have given us an answer.

The current world record for the oldest age stands at 122.

It's held be Jeanne Calment, who passed away in 1999.

We've certainly come a long way since then.

So many assumed the maximum age possible would now be far, far higher.

So, how did "science" come up with their magic number?

Well, believe it or not, they collected data through an iPhone app.

The inputted data related to health and fitness.

And determined that human lifespan is most significantly based on 2 data points.

The first is to do with biological age (including stress, lifestyle, and chronic diseases).

The other is resilience, which is related to how a body responds to a stressor.

And although there are things we can do to help with our biological aging...

The data revealed that at a certain point, the human body reaches a level of "complete loss" of resilience to stressors.

This means the slightest stressor would result in an inability to recover.

Meaning death becomes the inevitable response.

"As we age, more and more time is required to recover after a perturbation."

"On average we spend less and less time close to the optimal physiological state," study author Timothy V. Pyrkov explained.

Professor Andrei Gudkov explained the study is a true breakthrough in our concept of aging.

Calling it "a conceptual breakthrough, because it determines and separates the roles of fundamental factors in human longevity."

"It explains why even most effective prevention and treatment of age-related diseases could only improve the average, but not the maximal, lifespan, unless true anti-aging therapies have been developed."

We couldn't have put it better ourselves!

So, what is this mystical age that the study came up with?

Well, actually, we've pretty much reached it already.

The upper limit for human age is identified at 150 years old.

We're... oddly disappointed.
