We have another reason for you to adore Selena Gomez, so get your pens out and write this down!
Selena has been promoting her new swimsuit collection with Theresa Mingus and her co-founder Morgan Brutocao for their company LA'MARIETTE and according to Elle, the line, which launched on July 3rd, "is all about inclusivity, body positivity and celebrating the fact that all bodies are beautiful."
The starlet was praised for her latest bikini and swimsuit photoshoot, which appears to be completely unedited and photoshop-free. Her fans on Instagram were loving the photos and saying how refreshing it is to see an A-list celebrity posing and posting a photo without any retouching.
Posting a message of body confidence alongside the images on her own Instagram, Selena said to her 242 million followers: "So grateful that I get the opportunity to celebrate my friends' endeavors. My collaboration with @lamariette is out today!
"What I love about this brand [LA'MARIETTE] is that it celebrates women who love their bodies unconditionally giving themselves the grace they deserve. Hope you love it as much as I do."
Underneath the stunning snap of Selena standing next to a waterfall, one fan discussed how important it was to them to see the singer and actress without any editing: "She doesn't know how much it means to us that she's showing her stunning natural body... a true role model."
The love for Selena didn't just stay on Instagram but splurged over to Twitter as well, with one fan saying "Seeing Selena Gomez stomach & body WITHOUT PHOTOSHOP is Natural is Beautiful 🔥"
Speaking about her body in a recent video with Vogue, Serena commented on the pressure she faces to still have the same figure and weight that she did as a teenager - when she's now twenty-eight years old.
"I fluctuate a lot with my weight," she said while discussing a dress she wore to the Met Gala in 2015. "I remember this night specifically... I didn't feel good about my body."
She added that she found the revelation to change the dress to fit her, rather than changing herself to fit the dress. "So what was really amazing was that I actually got a chance to work on the dress that fit my body... We came together and built something really beautiful, something that fit me really well. That was one of the moments where I was like, 'I don't have to be that nineteen-year-old body shape anymore because I'm not'."
In February of this year, the U.K's Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) ruled that social media influencers were no longer allowed to use "misleading" filters on their photos. The statement said that filters should not be used if they "exaggerate the effect of a cosmetic or skincare" being sold on the platform. This is not the same in the U.S, however, where photoshopped photos are allowed to be posted without warning.
The rest of the world should definitely be taking a leaf out of Selena's book and start embracing natural, beautiful bodies!
