Shaquille O'Neal has gone viral this week after a heartwarming video emerged of him paying for a stranger's engagement ring while out shopping.
This is definitely the sweetest thing you'll see this week! Scroll on to check out the video...
Now, there's no doubting that Shaquille O'Neal is one of the most dominant forces in basketball.
After spending his childhood playing basketball, Shaq went on to drop out of college to pursue a full-time career in the NBA.
In his rookie years, he was christened as "Shaq" and went on to become one of the top 10 players when it came to scoring, rebounding, and shooting.
His exceptional height and build helped him out immensely.
Standing proudly at 7ft 1" tall, the star quickly became one of the most sought-after players in the game.
And the accolades just kept on coming...
Shaq became the first-ever player in NBA history to be named "Player of the Week" in his 1st week in the professional leagues.
He also went on to sign the biggest contract in NBA history in the past 7 years with the Los Angeles Lakers for a whopping $120 million.
By the time the 2000s came around, he was named NBA's "Most Valuable Player"...
And he had already been awarded a place on the All-NBA First Team in 1998; a place he secured until 2006.
But his feud with the legendary Kobe Bryant stole the spotlight for a long time...
As any NBA fan will know, the former L.A Lakers players had a controversial relationship after Kobe discussed Shaq's work ethic during an interview at the PHP Agency Convention in Las Vegas, as per Fox Sports.
However, after years of feuding, the pair called a truce.
There is no beef with @SHAQ I know most media want to see it but it ain’t gonna happen. Ain’t nothin but love there… https://t.co/x3d5Nxy87H— Kobe Bryant (@Kobe Bryant)1567007790.0
In 2019, before his tragic passing, Kobe posted this tweet that quashed all the rumors surrounding the so-called "beef" between the 2.
"There is no beef with @SHAQ I know most media want to see it but it ain't gonna happen. Ain't nothin' but love there and we too old to beef anyway."
Away from the basketball court and media rumors, Shaq has been well known for his hard work and dedicated ethic.
It also mentioned his charity work:
"Philanthropically, Shaquille's relationship with the Boys & Girls Club of America dates back to his youth in New Jersey. As a national spokesperson for the Boys & Girls Clubs of America, he has been participating in campaigns with the non-profit company for the past fifteen years."
So putting aside all the fame and glamor...
It seems as if Shaq is a pretty decent guy!
And this has certainly been proven this week after the basketball pro stepped in to help out a complete stranger.
On Monday, Shaq was seen in a jewelry store paying for an engagement ring for a stranger... and the internet has been left feeling heart warmed over the generous act.
Shaq had absolutely no reason at all to do this and it’s like he never even thought two seconds about it. He just did it. Not to be understated but doing nice things just because you can is a lost value in our society. Good on Shaq.— irishbluedevil (@irishbluedevil) April 7, 2021
Yup, and now his hard work and money can be used to get even more for her now, probably even a better honeymoon. Shout out to you @SHAQ , you’re a GOOD dude!!— TruthShallSetYouFree (@TruthHurts248) April 7, 2021
@SHAQ is an example of a true hero. Recognizes the gift he has & makes people happy by spreading his joy & seeks nothing in return. Will always root for him b/c of his generosity.— Raiderfanatic (@jcoastbklyn) April 7, 2021
That’s amazing. I know a lot of people will say “well he has a lot of money” but even If I had the money that Shaq does; I’m not buying another man’s wedding ring. Just being honest. What a good dude.— Keith L_54 (@KeithLababidi) April 8, 2021
Shaq was one of my favorite athletes growing up things like this is why he's just a great dude in general.— BMC (@BMC24k) April 7, 2021
Shaq is just objectively good. He did what he wanted to do in life, made his money, he's invested and diversified and now he's just doing anything he wants and helping out wherever he can.— Steven (@UNSCBabes) April 7, 2021
Nice job Shaq. You do good work in this world and your karma for you and your family should be the same. Wish more people who have would feel and do the same way! God bless brother! 🙏🏼— Joe (@joeteanecknj) April 7, 2021
All the best to Mr.Shaquille O’Neal a gentle soul with a big heart making the world a better place. All athletes need to look up SHAQ and his impact on humanity. You know who to boycott and not look up to.— BOB MARLEY 2/PH (@future2114) April 7, 2021
Shaq is such an inspiration. He’s one of if not the best at his position, made tens of millions and still helps the little people every now and then😂— Jamrock (@xXraider007Xx) April 7, 2021
Shaq is just genuinely a good person man. He does this type of thing so much for people. His parents truly raised him just to do good with his blessings and he has all along.— JUSTIN (@JRAKE80) April 7, 2021
The video that has been shared on social media shows Shaq stepping in for a young man with his credit card at the jewelry store checkout...
And he's seen shaking the man's hand and rubbing his shoulder.
He then addressed the incident during TNT's NBA post-game show on Tuesday night.
"I saw the guy come in, he was just so shy," Shaq said. "He was saying, 'Hey, how much do I owe to pay off the ring.'"
"At first he didn't want to take it," Shaq continued.
"He was like, 'Man I can't do that.' But I told him, 'Don't worry about it, I do it all the time.'"
He then said that although he didn't mean for the moment to become public, helping strangers is something he tries to do regularly.
"I'm into making people happy," Shaq explained, "Whenever I leave the house, I just try to do a good deed. I didn't mean for that to get out, because I don't do it for that, but the guy just came in. He was a hard-working guy. I'm just trying to make people smile."
