Simone Biles talks About stance on Abortion as Foster Child | 22 Words

Simone Biles, who returned from the Tokyo Olympics with a bronze medal for women's balance beam and silver for the artistic team all-around, asked her fans for their "unpopular opinions" on her Instagram story on August 9th while making some strong points on abortion.

"I already know this is going to start the biggest argument and I may even lose followers BUT," Biles began while responding to a follower who said: "abortion is wrong."

"I'm very much pro-choice. Your body. Your choice," Biles continued.

"Also for everyone gonna say 'just put it up for adoption,' it's not that easy & coming from someone who was in the foster care system TRUST me. The foster care system is broken and it's TOUGH. Especially on the kids & young adults who age out."

"And adoption is expensive... I'm just saying. And don't even come at me if you couldn't keep a mask on or refused to wear one," she added, likely referring to the fact that anti-maskers have coopted the "my body, my choice" slogan.

And just as Biles had said, people clapped back at her quickly across social media, showing their annoyance on Twitter, taking what she said, and making it much worse than it was...

"Do not misconstrue my words. That is not at all what I implied. I did NOT say I support abortion rather than putting them through the foster care system. What I did imply is that you should not control someone else's body/decision. Let's be real what you care about is control..." Biles wrote on Twitter in response to the backlash.

An advocate of pro-life Obianuju Ekeocha had said: "So many Catholics celebrated Simone Biles, who went through the foster care system. Today, she described herself as "pro-choice". Very sad & unfortunate."

While another person said: "Simone Biles on Instagram telling women to get abortions opposed to foster care. If she having mental issues, she needs to stay off the internet and off the American Broadcasting cameras. It's like she trying to be some woke spokesperson."

But Biles wouldn't stand down...

"I have forever & will continue to support foster kids. AS I WAS ONE. I've been an advocate for foster kids and the system but you wouldn't know that because you don't follow me, you just like to open your mouth," she said.

"Also if you have a fake account don't even talk to me. Y'all p**s me off to no end. I'm done because you'll twist my words however it feels fitting to spew hate. Also if anyone is seeing this just know I support you doing whatever feels fitting for YOU."

As we all know, Biles had a difficult childhood, with her mom giving her and her siblings up to the foster care system after being unable to feed and care for them. A few years later, she was eventually adopted by her grandfather, Ron, and his wife, Nellie.

With her mom in and out of jail suffering from addiction, there was no other option for Biles, who was 3 years old at the time, and her siblings to be placed into the broken foster care system.

But while Biles found herself lucky to have her grandparents step in for her, not all kids in the system are that lucky and thousands remain within the broken system to this very day.

So, when Biles says that foster care isn't always the best option, she certainly knows why!
