The award-winning actress has been known as Thandie Newton throughout her career, but now, she's changed her name.
Here's the full story...
Now, we all know Thandie Newton.
The actress is best known for her roles in the likes of Beloved, Mission: Impossible 2, and Solo: A Star Wars Story.
Not to mention her role as Maeve Millay, in the HBO series Westworld.
The same series that won her 2 Critics Choice Awards.
But, it turns out...
As well as we might think we know Thandie Newton...we've actually been addressing her by the wrong name all this time.
Thandie spilled all in a recent interview.
And it's safe to say reactions have been strong.
In a recent interview with British Vogue, the actress spoke very openly about her career.
Newton spoke of how she "derailed" and was "traumatised" after being abused as a young actress aged sixteen.
"There's a moment where the ghost of me changed, you know, and it was then, it was 16," she said.
"He derailed me from myself utterly. I was traumatized. It was a kind of PTSD for sure. I was so distraught and appalled that a director had abused a young actress and that it was happening elsewhere, minors getting abused and how f**ked up it was."
She also told Vogue that she will now be reclaiming the original spelling of her name after being known as Thandie throughout her career.
"That's my name. It's always been my name. I'm taking back what's mine," she said.
The actress said her name was first misspelled in the credits of her first film in 1991, Flirting...
And has been ever since.
But from now on, her future films and TV shows will be credited with her original name.
