TikToker Says She's Being Blamed For Matthew Perry’s Engagement to Molly Hurwitz Ending | 22 Words

A young woman who made wild claims about Matthew Perry earlier this year is back in the headlines following his split from Molly Hurwitz.

Matthew Perry isn't having a great time of late.

And it could all be thanks to one TikToker.

This week, he announced his split from Molly Hurwitz.

And the internet has one theory as to why ...

Now, we all know Matthew Perry best for his iconic role as Chandler in the 90s' sitcom Friends...

And since the comedy wrapped up in 2004, he's gone on to star in numerous successful movies, such as Fools Rush In (1997), The Whole Nine Yards (2000), and 17 Again (2009).

But despite being known as one of the most successful and "funniest" actors in Hollywood...

Perry has faced many of his own demons over the last few decades.

In 1997, the actor completed a twenty-eight-day program for a Vicodin addiction...

And his weight fluctuated drastically over the years, with him at one point dropping down to just 145 pounds - something that was very noticeable during the early seasons of Friends.

He again entered rehab in 2001 for addiction to a number of prescription drugs and alcohol...

And it is thanks to these addictions why Perry doesn't remember filming many seasons of Friends.

Speaking previously to BBC Radio 2, the actor proved unable to answer a question about his least favorite episode: "I think the answer is, I don't remember three years of it. So none of those... Somewhere between seasons 3 and 6... I was a little out of it."

Perry's addiction sadly consumed the majority of his young adult life.

"I had a big problem with alcohol and pills and I couldn't stop," he told PEOPLE in 2013. "Eventually things got so bad that I couldn't hide it, and then everybody knew."

Thankfully, Perry is now sober...

And he's now dedicated to helping other addicts.

He turned his former Malibu beach home into a men's sober living facility called Perry House, and he's becoming a passionate advocate for drug courts, through which non-violent substance abusers receive treatment instead of incarceration for their offenses.

Although Perry has never settled down and started a family...

Reports came in November 2020 that the actor became engaged to Molly Hurwitz, a twenty-nine-year-old literary manager, who he had been dating for a few months.

But controversy is sadly never far around the corner for those in Hollywood...

Because earlier this year, Perry was thrown into a frenzied media storm after a twenty-year-old TikToker claimed she had a "creepy" conversation with the actor after matching him on a dating app last year.

Kate Haralson took to TikTok earlier this year to reminisce over the time she matched Perry on the celebrity dating app, Raya.

Haralson was nineteen at the time while Perry was fifty, and the Los Angeles-based personal assistant shared a quick screen recording of her chatting to the actor on FaceTime.

She explained in the now-deleted video that she's matched with celebrities before, but doesn't "ever talk to older guys."

However, she chose to chat with Perry because she thought "oh, this would be funny."

"I was not really thinking anything of it," she said per Page Six.

The short footage of Perry shows him playing "20 Questions" with the nineteen-year-old...

And although Haralson said none of the questions were sexual, she said she did feel uncomfortable at times due to the age gap.

She then mentioned that Perry asked her if he was "as old as her father."

"I don't think he minded that," she said. "It kind of felt weird talking to someone my dad's age and it just felt not right, especially when he knew how young I was."

Well, it didn't take long for Haralson's video to go viral online...

But people weren't impressed with the young woman for screen recording her conversation with Perry and posting it online.

Many felt that because she is legally an adult and she "knew what she was doing," Perry wasn't in the wrong in this bizarre situation.

On the other hand, however, many felt Perry should have known better than to match with and start talking to a nineteen-year-old girl.

But now, following Perry's announcement of his split from Hurwitz, Haralson is back in the headlines.

Having to deny any involvement on her part.

Instagram account Deuxmoi shared a conversation with Haralson.

Haralson wrote: "Matthew Perry and fiancée split everyone blames me lol."

"Was he with her when u guys talked?" the account replied.

"No! They were on a break," Haralson hit back.

"That's so Friends," Deuxmoi joked.

Do you think it was inappropriate of Perry to FaceTime the teenager? Or do you think it was wrong of Haralson to match with the actor and post their private conversations online for personal gain?
