Woman Says She's a 'Proud Catfish' | 22 Words

Being online can be scary. You never truly know that who you're talking to is truly them, and with all the apps available, it's becoming easier and easier to edit your own photos.

Well, one mom from New York has been showing off her "catfish" transformation on TikTok which has left many people stunned over her change in appearance...

Alicia, who goes by the name @princessglitterhead - has currently amassed over one million TikTok followers.

Her videos focus mainly on her incredible "Catfish" transformation videos and dispelling the stigma around losing your teeth. Using the hashtag "Toothless TikTok Catfish", Alicia shared a video earlier this week that shocked many.

Alicia gave an insight into her morning routine, including the insertion of dentures that completely transform her face because back in May, the mom bravely opened up about she experienced severe tooth decay during her pregnancy which led to her losing most of her teeth.

She explained how her pregnancy ruthlessly affected her body.

"I don't think I ate properly. I wasn't as healthy as I should have been. So the baby had to strip things out of my body that I didn't know I didn't have… mostly calcium from [my] teeth."

Alicia suffered an extreme loss of calcium, which led to her teeth becoming "hollow and brittle on the inside and randomly falling out".

She then explained how she was completely unaware that she was "genetically predisposed to extreme calcium loss" during pregnancy.

"I had no cavities in my early childhood up until I was eighteen or nineteen, nothing!"

"I got married when I was twenty and we had our first baby when I was twenty-one. My teeth broke out during that first pregnancy and it was the first time that I started having really bad dental problems," she explained.

"When I was twenty-four I had my second daughter and after that pregnancy, I decided to invest $10,000 into saving my top teeth and I did a full restoration. I went to the dentist every single week for a whole year... after 9 years one of the bridges abscessed and the whole thing had to come out and I was ready for dentures, so I got snap-ins."

Nowadays, Alicia wears her dentures daily to give her a sparkling smile...

And in a now-viral clip celebrating one million followers, the mom filmed her morning routine, including wearing a wig, makeup, and of course, the dentures.

Though she has a loyal fan base who support and love her, she also has fallen victim to a plethora of detractors who don't agree with the "catfishing" that she portrays.

"This should be illegal," one wrote, while another added: "Absolute witchcraft."

A third wrote: "To me, that's a false advertisement."

However, the criticism never seems to get Alicia down…

"I'm a happily married mom of fifteen years with 4 kids and I wear makeup for ME," she said in a follow-up video, "I'm also a makeup artist with the same rights as anyone else to wear it."

Nevertheless, it has caused a conversation surrounding the stigma of dentures, especially within younger generations, and how it gives confidence to moms who have also fallen subject to calcium deficiencies during pregnancy.

One woman in a similar situation to Alicia could relate, but complimented her on her confidence: "I wish I had the confidence you have my friend. My husband has never seen me without them."

Another comment added: "Thanks for being so transparent. Beautiful either way!"

Well, we think Alicia looks beautiful with and without her dentures and she shouldn't be shamed for wanting to sometimes wear makeup!
