We're coming at you today to report a crime - Darius, the world's biggest rabbit, is missing.

At 4ft 4in (1.3m) and 22.2kg, he's not your average rabbit.

In fact, he's currently the biggest rabbit in the world.

He's of the Continental Giant breed.

Which was originally bred for meat but is now known to be an intelligent and loving house pet.

Although they're not for the cheap among us, costing around $5000 per year in food.

This includes 1,000 carrots and 400 apples a year.

He also needs a new hay bale every 2 weeks, as well as special rabbit food.

Darius is much loved by owner Annette Edwards.

But this week, she was hit with some scary news ...

"A very sad day. Guinness world record Darius has been stolen from his home. The police are doing their best to find out who has taken him," Edwards shared on Twitter.

"There is a reward of a £1,000. Darius is too old to breed now. So please bring him back."

She followed up the next day.

"Please Please I am so upset Can you bring my Darius back I am putting the reward up to £2,000."

The crime is under investigation.

"It is believed the Continental Giant rabbit was stolen from its enclosure in the garden of the property of its owners overnight on Saturday (10 April - 11 April)," West Mercia Police announced in a statement.

Per a 2010 interview with Today, Edwards revealed Darius was insured for $1.6million.

He was also accompanied by a personal bodyguard whenever they traveled.

The theft of pets have hugely increased over the pandemic.
